Recently picked up one of those Rawland racks and realized I should of bought the 425mm struts with it. Reached out to Rawland a few different ways, even ordered them from the website and they never shipped...so this kinda sucks...

Anyway, trying to make the best of this here and noticed that Riv and Rene Herse sell struts that length for a bit more money but its an option. Only problem is they seem to be 7mm in diameter and the Rawland ones measure at about 7.5-77mm.

1. Anyone think this will be a problem? Cant imagine it would, but I'm often wrong.
2. If so, any other suggestions
3. Anyone got those struts I could grab off em? They're also black and would like to keep the batman look I got goin with this steed.

The controlling factor is the clamping mechanism.   Nitto uses 7mm rack struts which are the same diameter as the studs on Mafac and other stud cantilever brake pads.

Most other makers use the larger 8mm size.   Typically the tube or rod is slightly smaller than the nominal size.
If Rawland uses 8 mm struts then there are several other companies that also use them, Salsa and Tubus being two examples.
I would put calipers inside the clamp at the rack to get a number and then stick with that number.

Get the VO Replacement struts for their Flat Pack porteur Rack or the set of Riv CLEM rack struts.

Get some spray paint and you'll be set.

I have the Rawland Demiporteur and had the same issue—the struts were far too short for my mid-fork eyelets. I wrote to Rawland directly (this was summer 2018) and they replied with this:

Hey, Brian! These are your best solution if you don't have rando eyelets but only midfork eyelets:
They are 370mm long, thus 150mm longer than the 220mm struts the rando and demi racks come with. Same diameter so work perfect.

Sure enough, I bought these from Salsa and they worked out great. Not long enough to reach the dropouts, but plenty long enough to go mid-blade.

Hope this helps.

I’m using a Rawland Demiporteur with an original strut on one side and a Nitto on the other. The Nitto is visibly smaller in diameter but I haven’t had any issues. I did it that way because the clamp on the light mount I’m using wouldn’t fit over the larger Rawland  stays!

Yikes. Glad I didn't order a rack from Rawland directly, as I briefly considered doing!
