Just acquired a wheelset with GB rims; they're black label w/ gold writing and no other markings on the rim.  See attached pic of the label.

Pretty new to this so appreciate any pointers/ tips.  Hopefully they're not the ones that BQ/ Compass stopped selling.

Thx in advance,

I think the only way you can tell is to cut em apart.

It's the entry level "Scarabee Ltd" model with single-walled construction.  It's still in production.

Mount a tire on them and see how things go. The new ones supposedly mount up straight with very little effort/massaging.

This.  And even if you have the older-style rims, it's only a problem if it's a problem, you know?

Thx all.  The tires (Pacenti Pari-Motos) mounted up nicely enough.  Unfortunately I've now discovered that the PM's are only 33mm wide on these GB rims which seems crazy when they're described by VO as a "true 38mm when mounted on VO's Diagonale rims" (only 2mm wider overall).  I was hoping these would be fatter than the Panaracer Col de Vie's which measure up at 35mm on other older Weinmann rims.

So many complications!

Hi Tim,

Are they new tires? If so, it takes time for them to reach their full width.

Just thought I'd throw that out there,

+1. After about 1700 miles my PMs are up to ~39mm (actual between 38 and 40mm), and that on rims with 18.5mm inner width.  I'm actually hoping they don't grow any more!

I have Pari-Motos mounted on a pair of GB 650b rims - not sure if they are the original version rim - they have a green label, are single eyelet, and I've had them about ten years. Anyway, Pari-Motos on those rims measure 37mm wide (they've been mounted a few months). The rims themselves measure 17mm internal and just over 23mm external width. I've never had any problems getting tyres to mount evenly on those rims.
