Carla,

I spoke with Dave and have ordered three (3) cubic yards of mulch (we ran short last time).

He will deliver Friday to the Southwest corner of Ninth and Bainbridge (locked gate area).  This should be enough to do all the tree wells on four sides of Palumbo Recreation Center,  including the new tree plantings.

If there is any left-over mulch, we can do tree wells on opposite sides of 9th, 10th, Bainbridge or Fitzwater.

By copy of this message to our BVTW Beautification Committee,  I am requesting volunteers to turn out to assist with the planting and mulching.

As always, thank you very much for your great help and support!

Joel

Joel,
It would be easier for me if you just set it up and paid them directly. The company is Underdog Landscape Supply 215 482-2484.  They are in Conshohoken.  Let them know that they have dropped off at that corner (southwest corner of 9th and Bainbridge) before for me.  I think you'll need 2 cubic yards, if you want to do all the trees around Palumbo.   But double-check with Dave, I believe.

Carla

Carla,

The entire BVTW Board expresses appreciation for this supplemental planting and has unanimously approved up to $150 dollars to be spent for mulch.

We will recruit  many volunteers to assist in planting the trees and to edge, mulch and dress all the tree wells.

I will ask that the mulch be delivered if you can provide contact information.

Alternatively, if you want to order and have delivered to SW corner of Ninth and Bainbridge, I can ask Ric to make the check out to you or to Bel Arbor; whatever works best for you.

Thanks again and look forward to seeing you next Saturday!

Joel,
I can't this time--I don't have the time--I wasn't planning on getting mulch, and Bel Arbor doesn't have the funds right now to buy the mulch (was about $100-$125, I think, for 2 cubic yards)

If BVTW is interested, I can get you the telephone # of Underdog Landscapers..

Yes and Yes

Thank you very much!  I will be out there to help and will see if we can get some more volunteers.

Carla

Can you get enough mulch to re-dress all the tree wells along all four sides??

Joel,
Bel Arbor Tree Tenders will be replacing the dead trees around Palumbo Rec Center next Saturday, Nov. 15, 9:30 a.m. Sorry I am so late in letting you know.  Are you around, and if so can you help?  And either way, can we use your water?!
Thanks,
Carla

Carla,

Thank you and I appreciate the ”mulch tip” as I am way unschooled in the art of arboreal care!

I am certain we will have plenty of mulch and you can have whatever you need.

We are building on the great success of last week’s BVTW-PMBC cleanup, organized and run by the BVTW Beautification Committee (Larry Levin, Charlie Moleski and many volunteers). I have my fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate (think 65 degrees and some sun!!)

best regards

joel

Joel et al,
That's great----just in case any of you are not familiar with the "golden rule" of mulching---mulch should be kept away from the trunk of the tree--NO mulch volcanoes!!!  Mulch should be around 2"-3" max deep and should taper down to nothing around the trunk of the tree. Please instruct any volunteers.

If there is any mulch left over, I might try to get the trees on the north side of the 700 block of Christian St. mulched.
