I haven't played Netrunner in over two cycles, and now I hear that along with rotation, they're changing Core to remove Corroder, Yog, Siphon, Scorched, Noise, ETF, much more (lots of NBN cards)!

Seems like a good time to get back into it...

Wat.

Thanks for posting on the list because I probably wouldn't have spotted it in the Noise.  Just had a look at the rotate list: https://imgur.com/a/mhh6o

Removing most of what I considered design space killing cards.  I might be coming back too.  If I can get off my ass and sort more cards :(.  It's convention season for me so I'm going to be pretty slammed the next few weeks:

Anyone know when the street date and the rotation solidification is?

Rotation is official October 1st, no?

No new cards in Core 2.0 so not necessary for rotation compatibility... they say it won't be out for Worlds 2017, not up to date on when that is.

They do claim rotation will happen before world's, but the physical core 2.0 product will not be out then.

Rotation will be "cycles one and two rotate out, and the cards in core 2.0 replace the ones in 1.0." The date of that rotation is October 1. The box will come out... Later.

All of this means that now is an exciting time to get (back) into Netrunner. However, it will be a bit of a pain point for anyone without the first two cycles, because many cards in them will remain legal but probably be hard to get until the box comes out.

Just a note because I do see the pain in finding out of print packs with the core 2 cards in them: I'm sure you can borrow or simply have copies of them from other local players. Like I know I have extra Celebrity Gifts and Ash (from the Worlds deck). It is a great time to start or join back in!

I'm surprised they're printing Core 2.0 with 1 and 2-ofs instead of playsets of everything. I think that was a big mistake with Core 1.0.

Also, we can just agree as a group to allow proxies for cycle 1-2 cards until Core 2 is released. Anything to make it easier.

Netrunner!

I go back and forth on this. As a current player, more total distinct cards in the core set means more are saved from rotation. We're keeping a lot of staple cards because of it. And then, as a single core game, it's more interesting and exciting to have one-ofs and more variety in the starter decks, IMO. Drawing your one-of console was a big deal in core set 1.0 (arguably one copy of consoles in particular wasn't good design, I like that core 2 has 2 copies of the consoles). So while it's a bummer as a competitive player to purchase 2-3 core sets, it's not like this distribution is indefensible.

Best,
Eric

Well, particularly because any competitive player likely has playsets of any relevant core cards anyways. The one-ofs bother me more than two-ofs... if they gave you 2 or 3 copies of each card you would be set with 2 cores. Needing to buy 3 cores seems excessive.

The buy in for new tournament players will always three cores. Same w FFGs other LCGs. I only plan to buy one Core 2 since the cards I already own work just fine.

L5R core dropping soon too so I'll end up paying for three cores either way.
