Hello 5G Lena users

Following the conversation we had with Katerina regarding Building Pathlosses, I have incorporated the merge request suggested (https://gitlab.com/nsnam/ns-3-dev/-/merge_requests/1359) and have successfully experienced O2I losses with different SINR values for different materials used (Wood, Stone Blocks, Concrete with and without Windows).

I was following up a Test from the MR Katerina sent and expected that we may have O2O losses experienced if we have a building blocking the LOS. This has not been the case. An similarly configured simulation topology that will give different PL values for different materials for O2I is not working when one node is placed outdoors so as to have a NLoS O2O situation. The PLs in these scenarios are the same for all material types. In fact there are the same for UMi_Buildings and UMi_StreetCanyon.

I would like to ask @Katerina Koutlia if NLoS O2O setups are supported in Lena or it is another update we should look forward to, or maybe contribute. By setting some Unconditional Logs, I have seen that my setup realized that there is a building in between two nodes. The problem is that no PL is calculated even when I manually use config default to set the condition of the channel to NLOS and O2O.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Roland

Hi Roland,

To start, please don't ask the same question in various threads.
Also I think that if you go through the code in buildings-channel-condition-model most probably it will answer your questions.

Long story short, TS 38.901 defines that for the case of NLOS you apply the pathloss formulas (depending on the scenario) as described in Table 7.4.1-1.
In case of O2I, it defines additional penetration losses in section 7.4.3.
However, at least as far as I am aware of, there is no definition of "O2O penetration losses in case of NLOS".

If you discover something additional, you let us know.

BR,
Kat

Thanks for the reply Caterina and very sorry for having the same question in different threads.
So that means we can't yet get O2O losses with nLOS in ns-3 right?

From the MR you provided last time, I am now observing very high attenuation that all my packets are corrupt even when the UE and gNB are very close to each other. Wood still has lower PL values in comparison to for example StoneBlocks but both are too high for any packets to be received on either side of the communication spectrum.
