Dear 5G-LENA development team,

I’m currently working on my master’s thesis where handover functionality is essential.

Could you please indicate when handover functionality might realistically be available in 5G-LENA, even in an early or experimental version?

Thank you very much in advance for your support.
Best regards,
Bara Sabbah

Target is next release. In a month or two.

Hi, is the next release out that Gabriel mentioned, which will include the handover functionality?

Sincerely,
Surabhi Karandikar

It is not. Should be done by the end of the month.
I've created an issue tracking pending features needed for the release

Hi Mr. Ferreira,
I just read your comment on the commit  "doc: Add a short passage on handover support and current limitations" , where you mention that “tests were performed with TDD.”
Does this mean that the handover functionality planned for the end of the month will only support TDD, or will FDD also be supported?

Thanks in advance,
Bara

It means exactly what is written: to that particular commit, it was tested with TDD, all flexible slots, with ideal RRC.
The plans for this release are on my previous response.

@Gabriel, is the release with HO features out? As it was expected by the end of this month (i.e., by today)? If not, is there any release date planned?

Any update regarding this is really useful for my current work and decisions.

Sincerely,
Surabhi Karandikar

The code is already available on nr-master. We are still working on it, so there may be unknown bugs, on top of the known limitations.
As for the release date, we need to wait for ns-3.48 release (end of May) which includes patches required not to break the simulation due to precoding matrix dimension mismatches.
Otherwise you can only use SISO, which defeats the purpose.

@Gabriel, I see that ns-3.48 is release on the 2nd of June. Is the 5g-lena latest branch available with the X2 handover support?

Again, it was already merged to master. We recently merged many bug fixes found during testing and calibration. There are still many MRs open that should be merged this week, and maybe stretch to next week. After all of these are merged, we will do the nr-v5.0 release.
