Hi chaverim
This is an article by JJ Goldberg about Nelson Mandela, but it's also a personal reflection about growing up in Habonim and trying to fight for justice. Very worth reading because his personal life dilemmas are relatable to ours.
We're having a cozy shabbat in Haifa. It's raining and the Chag HaChagim--Holiday of Holidays, a Jewish-Christian-Muslim holiday festival that lasts all of December--just started. We had a shabbat dinner--chicken, mashed potatoes and sufganiyot. It was also the first shabbat with a 58 siddur that we just began compiling.
I'm sharing the siddur as a google doc with everyone, so feel free to add texts, pictures, songs, etc. Don't worry about the organization, I'll handle that. Just cut and paste stuff that you want in there. The siddur should ideally reflect all of our combined shabbat traditions--but it's a a document that makes us a statement about who we are as 58. So only put really awesome stuff in it.
And seriously read the thing by JJ.
