Hello kvutz,

I've heard that some of you are planning to visit Israel during winter break this year. That's awesome! I wanted to open up the conversation about that visit, regarding content and finances.

Content- I think it's really important that we make some time to sit together and check-in and discuss our real and potential lives in Israel a la chill kvutz seminar. I'm happy to organize this.

Finances- I know that not everyone who wants to be there can be there on their own dime, so I'm wondering if some of the grant money was successfully secured for mifgash last year could be granted again and used towards airfare for 58ers. I have no moral qualms with this, since I see our time together as very important to the kvutsah and to the aliyah decision making process, and we can totally have a legit kvutz seminar.

Please do write back with thoughts on this. If you're planning to visit, share the dates you're planning to be there and if you'll need help funding it.

Shalom meod,
Eve

Hey dudes!

Matan and I are definitely planning on coming to Israel. We haven't nailed down dates yet, but it looks like we'll probably be leaving on December 26, and staying around 2 weeks-ish. We're hoping to fly together, but if schedules don't work out, we'll just make sure to be there at the same time. Right now it looks like that will be December 26 - January 10ish. I'm still in the process of figuring out my job situation, so my schedule might change. Are there dates that work best for people? I'm pretty flexible at the moment (but might not be later on).

In terms of money, I really shouldn't be going to Israel given my financial situation, but it's incredibly important for me to go, both so I can remind myself of what being in Israel is like (and remember the intense connection I have to it), and also to see you all. So even though I shouldn't be spending $1000+ to go, I will. That said, any financial help would be awesome. But even if I don't get any help, I'm still definitely going to go. I just might realize how stupid it is later.

A kvutzah seminar sounds awesome. I would really appreciate that.

Love,
Becca

I guess people don't know this, so I'll just say now that I'm probably going to move to israel in January!! yaaaaay.

Depending on when things wrap up in chicago (which is hypothetically where I'll be for most of this semester) I'll either be flying out w the mifgashers (or trying to... cuz how fun and crazy for them would that be??) or a little later.  if its the latter then I probs won't be there for a seminar in late december/early january.

Sound vague and confusing?  Welcome to my life right now...

I'm definitely trying to come to Israel some time hopefully in January. I would think it would probably be around Mifgash + time after. Similar to Becca, I'm still figuring out a job so when I can come and how I can afford to come are still a little uncertain. But I'll figure out a way to make it work. And I'm definitely into a kvutza seminar of some sort.

I just spoke with my parents and I might be expected to go on a family vacation over Christmas. If that's the case, I won't be able to get up to Israel until January 2 or 3. Just FYI in terms of scheduling the seminar. I'll let you know when my plans have solidified.
