Hi Yesodnics

This past Wednesday was the last session of our last section of Yesod.  And then this morning I participated in he last of the parlor meetings.  We talked a lot about community and the one thing I thought to myself is that we have been meeting and forming relationships over the last however many months since we started and while the class sessions are over, we can still continue to build community with each other and I think that that would be a good thing.  Summer is coming and summer is always a good time to get together for no other reason than to enjoy each other's company.  We never did manage to arrange the Shabbat dinner that Joey had originally proposed and I think that should still be on our todo lists.  Shabbat afternoons (and also Sundays) are a good opportunity to get together with friends.  And backyards and parks don't present the kid problems trying to arrange a Shabbat dinner does.  Those are family times and good times to get together as families.

I think we should work on building community.  What do you think?

B'shalom

Dear Rob,
I would be happy to host a summertime, outside in the sun, campfire, s'mores kind of shabbat for this group! Maybe June 11th would work? Rabbi?

I'm in.

I was also thinking about this earlier this afternoon. Rob, I don't know that I would have gotten to know you if not for the Yesod class, and without that connection, you and Rosie may not have been part of my Mikvah Day (or whatever you call it) celebration today. I look forward to further conversations with you.

We have a pool table here at the house (in SW/Maplewood, near Multnomah Village), if anyone wants to have a Shabbat-potluck-pool-party sometime. We did a couple of these last fall to moderate success and welcome the opportunity to do this again. Though be forewarned: We're still working on having enough furniture so people can actually sit down. ;)

I'd also like to engage in more group activities outdoors -- maybe a picnic in the park (which may or may not involve some hiking), or perhaps some easy kayaking or bike rides along the esplanade.

well.  great minds think alike.  I was wondering about the sudden disconnect.  And, for myself, I will admit to sometimes having things to do that made wed evening difficult.  But all together, I agree with Rob (and Jenn and Amber) that some sort of continuing would fit well into the "flow.  MAybe it could become part of the re-connect movement,  Or maybe not.  I'd be happy to help put something together/

While I am scheduled to lead services at Havurah - I'm sure I could "move"
it, in order to do something special with this group. I'd love to!

And I have signed up to help with Oneg on June 11....and I'm not sure if I want to get out of that since I "chose" the date. But I would love to do something with this group, too. Hopefully there will be more than one opportunity.

I think this is a great idea. Once a date(s) are selected I would be happy to help organize.

June 11th is the night before our son's bar mitzvah! Don't think that date
will work for us, but would like to join the group another time.

The 11th is out for us, as well (leaving town that evening) but we'd like to get together another time, too.

There are clearly too many of us to plan a get together helter-skelter and so I thought I'd do something contrary to my whole way of thinking: organize.  Would each you please respond with those dates you know are unavailable from June through, say August.  Just Friday night and Saturday afternoon/Sunday. Respond to me directly at caspe...@gmail.com rather than cluttering the list and then I publish the list of available dates and then we can see who's up to doing what when.  Sound like a good idea?

Dear All,
I didn't mean to generate a fury of hubbub about the June 11th date.  Just trying to be spontaneous.  Thanks, Rob, for being willing to coordinate dates for us.  It would be great to stay connected!
Best,

Hi Everyone,

The next Hakol is going to print – and I’m under some pressure to find out if this proposed gathering of Yesod Survivors is going to take place.  If it is, I’ll gladly be there, but I need to let Havurah know that I will NOT be at the scheduled service instead.  That’s no problem.  But if it is not going to take place, I should determine to be at services!  Can we take a vote?

Thanks,

Joey

Joey,

I haven't really had enough responses to put out a list of proposed dates although I will do so next week based on whatever I have at the time. However, just based on the responses I've seen thus far, I think the June 11th date in a definate no. If any of you folks disagree, please chime in.
