PLEASE post some faith questions..... Just think about what you'd
really like to know about what a strict Orthodox rabbi really
believes! Or post other questions, anything that comes up.....

Thanks again!

Rabbi Joey

What is his conception of God?  Is it the literal version in the Torah of a voice (like a person?) up above or is it more like the being-ness that all living things have--or something else?

I won't be there (sadly!) to hear his answer, but I'd love to ask something about the Orthodox view of other branches of Judaism.

Last night's conversation reminded me of a trip to Chicago I took when I was 10 or 11 when a boy at the hotel where we were staying asked if I was Jewish and when I said I was reform he told me that I, in fact, was not Jewish at all.

Ask three rabbis what an orthodox rabbi really believes and receive at least ten different answers. No?

I’m gathering from the emails that there was some kind of numbered list of quandaries handed out last night?  I wasn’t able to be there.  Can someone scan it and send it out on the list?  Thanks.  -Liz

Is G-d a being; a concept; a natural force?

Do prayers said from ones deepest sense of awe and spirituality mean more
when said in Hebrew than in other languages?

Is the life of an ant less worthy of our deference and reverence than the
life of a human?

Does G-d play favorites between people; between Jewish people?

If G-d kills in anger, and people are made "in G-d's image" why should I not
kill in anger?

Is G-d brooding still because we do not always follow every one of G-d's
directives every day?; why is G-d so petty?

And so forth.

Lawrence

I'd like to know if he's personally an organ and tissue donor and regardless of his personal answer why hundreds of thousands of orthodox will accept organs from others, including non-Jews, but refuse to donate themselves.

What does he think about evolution and creation?

As an othrodox Jew, what does Rabbi Fischer see as his role in the wider world. How does his understanding of Tikum Olam require him to participate in the secular world surrounding him.

Does Rabbi Fischer believe in the will of G-d?

I would be interested to hear his comments on death and "afterlife".

Does he think that adherents of Panentheism are heretics?

I would like to know his concept of God. And, what does he get out of praying, including his thoughts on does god hear and answer our prayers.
