Hi Neighbors,

We have received updates on the Ghost Kitchens behind the RCN building on Georgia Ave. NW.  

Site has been shutdown and will be turning off the generators this week. Per the owner they are working on relocating the vessels to another site. In the meantime the site has been closed until they can produce the proper permit required to operate at this site. Please see email below from our MOCRS.  Please feel free to reach out to Mr. Mitchell if any questions.

I hope you re well and staying safe.

 

Earlier last week, DCRA sent an inspection team to check into this property and spoke with Monique Kennedy of Reef Technologies regarding the truck. She stated that they have the proper permits and licensing to conduct these kitchens, and as you know, they are leasing the lot space from the owner of the building - which is RCN.  DCRA has doubled-checked on their end and do not see any licenses or permits for Reef to conduct their businesses in the neighborhood, and DCRA asked them to produce these documents.

 

Moving forward, DCRA is currently reaching out the following folks for follow up as we speak:

• the owner of the building and lot that owns the property that leases the back lot to the “kitchens”;
• Reef Kitchens further to evaluate the scope of their work in the area and how they have been operating without licenses and permits;
• DOH regarding their waiver needed to provide mobile food.

 

Please let me know if there is anything else you believe we can be doing here to better serve the residents in the area.
