Hi Neighbors,
Are we tiered of seeing these creatures in our yards? Running through our alleys and destroying our trash bins? I know I am! Not to mention the vehicle damage they do our parked vehicles.
Well let's do something about it! Let's work together with the D.C. Department of Health (DOH) Rodent Control Division to combat them together! All we need is to obtain permission from each homeowner to allow the DOHRCD to bate your property.
Therefore, a petition must be signed. See attached form. The idea is to obtain one form for each side of the block. (This is where Block Captains would
come in handy, and if you are interested in becoming one for our SMD please let me know so we may work together on distributing the information to the residents who do not use email.)
Please let me know if you would like to take the lead on obtaining signatures for your block. A few weeks ago, a resident on the 5800 block of Colorado Ave. accomplished this task and was able to schedule service for each property. Speaking with the DOH Inspector
it is possible for them to service 2-3 blocks per week. I say let's get to it and have our entire SMD serviced in the next few weeks of June and July, 2021.
Let's start our summer by minimizing the number of these creatures so we may enjoy our late evenings on our yards and save on our vehicle repairs. I will start walking the neighborhood this Sunday, June 13th to start collecting signatures and will work throughout
the week to obtain as many as possible.

In order to prevent rodents from climbing in your trash bin, it is important we properly seal them. We may use metal patches to cover holes around the can. DPW also provides container repairs to lid, bar and wheels. Requesting a New Container cost $45.00 -$62.50.

I have attached some literature on Residents Tips and the Dry Ice Flyer. Please advise on the above.
Thanks,
