Hey, Guys –

I know the 2016 Season is winding down and some of you are saying good-bye to our beloved Beachcomber, but there are a number of minor (or maybe not?) repair / maintenance items that we should nip in the bud now vs. letting them slide.

From what I can tell, we’ve got four items to address – easiest to more difficult:

1.       Non-functioning Weber Grill

2.       Non-functioning oven

3.       Busted / collapsed rear screen door

4.       Leaky Upper Pool bedroom

Does anyone have the contact information for “The Grill Guy” who supposedly can come and clean / service the Weber on-site.  Is this real or just a rumor?  Either way, we’ll need to take care of this ASAP.  Suggestions welcome.

A ‘tech’ was by two weeks ago now and couldn’t seem to reset the oven.  Has anyone spoken with Nicole to see what their plan is?  Not having a working oven for the rest of the season is not a workable option in my book.  Again, suggestions welcome.

Does anyone know what happened to the back deck screen slider?  Has Nicole been notified that this needs to be repaired or replaced?

The leaking roof above Upper Pool is an ongoing issue.  Clearly Nicole needs to be informed that the roof leaks when there’s standing water above.

Thanks, guys… all helpful suggestions and comments are certainly welcome.  Let’s make our last two months at Beachcomber enjoyable… and comfortable! J

Hugs,

Bing

Hi Rick!

The screen door is on me - one of my guests walked through it (sober believe it or not).  I asked Todd who I should call to get it fixed and he gave me:   917-921-1222 Tad Paul is his name.  I left him a message last Thursday but haven’t heard anything back.  I’m worried that he doesn’t do this anymore.

Maybe when Nicole is called about the other stuff we can use her guy?  I’ll obviously pay for the screen.

Re: Stove - when we met with her - she was under the impression that the oven was fixed - but offered to send her guy if it wasn’t.

That’s all I know!

Dave

Hi Bing-

Comments below:

From what I can tell, we’ve got four items to address – easiest to more difficult:

1.       Non-functioning Weber Grill

This is a bit of a funny thing to me.  There are those housemates who seem to never be able to use our grill, and there are those for whom it's never a problem.  I'm in the camp of it working every time I try it (for a week at a time).  I do think that we have folks who don't know how to use it who have stripped the knobs in their attempts, however, which make it harder to use now.  There is indeed a way to replace the innards of the grill or replace the grill itself.  I would request, though, that if the grill is to be replaced that the cost of that come out of next year's house dues, not be paid for from this year's expenses as the 8 shares leaving won't get the benefit of it but will be paying for it.  I am happy to see if we can find the grill guy to come have a look and give us a recommendation. My suggestion would be to simply buy a new grill to arrive next April (so it's not in the winter weather).

2.       Non-functioning oven
As David mentions, I mentioned to Nicole that the oven wasn't working.  She'd sent the guy over who said he fixed it, and I confirmed to her that indeed it still wasn't.  I'd suggest Eric reach out to her and let her know it's still not working.  She might have to replace it...

3.       Busted / collapsed rear screen door
David's taking care of this one.
4.       Leaky Upper Pool bedroom

She's aware, as we talked about it earlier this summer. I think it's definitely worth pushing her on, though I think if and when she redoes the roof this will take care of itself.  I don't see anything happening in the short term (except for our mattress getting ruined...).

Hi All

I just spoke to the screen door guy - he doesn’t do this kind of work.  He suggested I just contact Nicole directly.  Which I’m happy to do - but I don’t want us all innundating her with requests.  Can I suggest that whoever calls her for the rest of the items - also mentions the screen door - then, I’ll just cover that part of the expense?

Or, happy to call her directly as well.

thx!

Hello all,

A few observations/questions:

1.       David mentioned in his reply to Bing that he has given the number of Tad Paul to replace the screen door. Tad Paul is an architect, not a repairman.

2.       With respect to the grill, there are a lot of vacation weeks in which guests are using it, who may be perfectly capable grillers, but those knobs really are an unintuitive design, so I am not surprised that we continue to have problems. As I recall the grill is entirely a house expense, but perhaps Nicole will know someone who can recondition it.

3.       With respect to the leak, has it ruined the mattress? If so, where are the twin mattresses that it replaced? Are they under the house or did Nicole take them back?

4.       Once I get some feedback on #3, I will put an email together for Nicole mentioning the leak/mattresses, the oven, the grill, and the slider.

Thanks,

Chris

By the way, for our week - we purchased about $275 in additional booze to add to the collection - just to be sure we replaced what we consumed.  Not sure where the delivery ended up in the house - but it’s there someplace!

The roof leak and damage will be handled by Nicole after the season ends. She has to replace the roof and then fix the damage...

I reported the leak to Nicole's office yesterday and got a response. Didn't know about the oven still not working.
I'm at the house now.

Also, we need to have the drawers in lower walk repaired and the refrigerator door tray. Any insights on what happened so I can explain to Nicole?

Thanks!

FYI- The mattress is not ruined. It did get a little wet but Eddie moved the bed, set a bowl until the leak and moved the mattress to dry.
Also, Eddie has tested the grill for tonight's use and he said that it is working, although the knobs are stripped and difficult to use.

Cheers! K
