All,
I plan to invite my friend Albert out this weekend. He's been a guest before and is kind and courteous. Let me know if there are any problems.
Separately, I've invited my friend Arjan from san francisco to join me on Labor Day. He too has been a guest before.
Thanks for your support.

Hi boys-
I hope everyone is firmly ensconced someplace cool to avoid the HeatDome of 2016! What a hot mess, literally...
I wanted to reach out and touch base with everyone on a couple issues that have been raised to me. They're easy fixes, but only if folks are aware and are willing to change them. It's generally a good policy to do a quick refresh on our agreed upon rules mid-summer anyway...so here goes.
The first is around guests, whether as a replacement or an addition to your room for the weekend. Our general policy has always been the following:
- If you're unable to join for a weekend, you first should alert the housemates of that weekend, to see if any of them want to bring someone. If no one does, you should open the offer to the entire house. If no one takes you up on the offer, the room or spot goes vacant--we don't allow guests without housemates with them.
- If you do want to bring a guest out due to a vacant space, just use common courtesy: let your housemates know (and ideally ask if they're comfortable with your guest). Showing up with a guest unannounced isn't appreciated. It's also a good practice to ask your guest to pitch in a little while they're in residence, just like the rest of the house. Nobody appreciates a guest who makes a mess and doesn't help clean it up.
- Sleeping in the common areas is not an option. No one likes to walk out in the morning for coffee and interrupt a couple in a post-coital nap on the sofa with sheets everywhere.
- While a couple weekends have been an exception granted by those in the house a couple weekends this year, the general policy of the house is that we only have a maximum of 8 people in the house, and a maximum of 2 people per bedroom. From the several comments I've received, I think it's probably best that we try to get back to this going forward.
- Finally, when you're at the house, please try to do something for the group during the weekend. That could mean doing the groceries, or cooking one night, or cleaning one night. And everyone can always help with laundry. While it seems obvious, a number of us have mentioned to me that we don't all pitch in where we could.
If it's helpful, I'm re-attaching the house manual, which should give more information if you need it. As I said, these are minor things and are easy to fix. But they're also the kind of things that if not addressed can diminish everyone's enjoyment of the house, which is obviously not what any of us would want.
I'm happy to address anyone's concerns, or provide more background if it's helpful. Thanks for reading, and look forward to seeing everyone out there soon!

Excellent!
Also, Todd, I put the soda water on the house account at the Pantry BTW! Not sure if I need to notify you of those things or not. It was delivered yesterday.
