How would you rate the laundry facility and other common areas?

Who are you, a prospective renter?

The washers/dryers work pretty well these days and the laundry room is
kept clean. The laundry room is the only common area that I know
of.

I can't advise you strongly enough to heed the warnings on this site
about A - E apartments... but, sorry, you didn't ask about that.

thanks for the reply. I've been frantically reading the posts about
the noise since I've already signed a lease. We didn't notice any
noise when we viewed the apartment and I'm hoping it remains that way
when we move in.

I am so sorry you heard the news too late to do you any good. The
noise disappeared for a month, but it's back now. It's enveloping me
and my apartment space right now! Audio clips are on
homeofthewhine.blogspot.com. I also have a clip recorded from 8B, but
it's too big for Youtube and I haven't edited it down.

Sorry to be negative. Not everyone is equally sensitive to noise, and
this noise might prove to be a nonissue for you. It's a high-pitched,
continuous whine persisting 24/7.
