BART GTFS-rt Vehicle Positions; Increased API Rate Limit Request

Hi,


1] I'm writing to ask for some help retrieving BART GTFS-rt Vehicle Positions data.

I was issued an API token, and I am able to get agency GTFS-rt Vehicle Positions data from some 511.org <http://511.org/> supported agencies, like SFTMA (SF):
- https://api.511.org/Transit/VehiclePositions?api_key=bace5724-1d8c-462f-b469-2746b8179903&agency=SF&format=json

Unfortunately, when I use the same API endpoint for BART (BA), I get an empty dictionary:
- https://api.511.org/Transit/VehiclePositions?api_key=bace5724-1d8c-462f-b469-2746b8179903&agency=BA&format=json

I don’t see BART vehicles in the Regional GTFS (RG) dataset either:
- https://api.511.org/Transit/VehiclePositions?api_key=bace5724-1d8c-462f-b469-2746b8179903&agency=RG&format=json

Am I doing something wrong? Does BART not have an available GTFS-rt Vehicle Positions feed? Are there any API endpoints (SIRI, NeTEx) that provide an equivalent vehicle location dataset for BART?



2] I’m also writing to request an 511.org <http://511.org/> API token with an increased rate limit greater than the standard 60 requests per 3600 seconds. I’m hoping to track some Bay Area transit vehicles in (as close to) “real time” (as I can).

- Can you tell me the average vehicle location refresh rate (AKA how often does a vehicle report its position to the GTFS-rt Vehicle Positions API)?

One tip, with regard to API keys generally, never publish them to the Internet.

You’ll need an entirely new key vs. having the 511 team just bump the limit on the key you posted  otherwise it creates an extra unnecessary step.
