Dear 505-friend and 505-coordinator

The preparation for the 505 Worlds in Varberg 1-10 of August is in progress. We hope to see 505-friends from all over the world. The hosting club, Varberg Yacht club together with Swedish 505 Association will do our utmost to make it a fun, exciting and memorable event for both participating sailors as well as for accompanying friends. 

 

The event will start with 2 days of Pre-Worlds/Open Nordic Championship for everybody to fine tune, followed by 5 days of intense Worlds racing.

 

All information about the event you find via the official website https://www.int505.org/2024-505-world-championships/  You can find Notice of Race and Entry Registration as well as much information about Program, Accommodation, Travelling, See & do in Varberg etc. 

 

We also try to push and inform about the event at regular International 505 Facebook channels. On the new  FB, “505 World Championships”, we give some more details about news, about the people behind the event, about sponsors, etc. That means we do not overload the Int. 505 FB with details just for those going to the Worlds. This page is also where we will post live video from the event when the event is up and running. https://www.facebook.com/505WorldChampionships    This page is to be inherited by the next organizer of the Worlds, i.e. the Australian 505 Class Association.

Very expensive container freight costs have jeopardized world events during the last 2-4 years, so its very positive to see that the container costs are now, more or less, back to pre-covid costs. Also the Swedish currency is at its all-time lowest value compared with currencies such as Euro and US dollars. 

       

Please help us to communicate and push for the event in your local media channels. If you have questions or suggestions for us please don't hesitate to contact us.

 

Already today, mid-January, there are 20 teams who have signed up, and another 20 that have expressed their interest in participating on the FB event. We strongly believe there will be 100+ Five-o-fives on the starting line in August.  Hope to see you then.
