2028 5o5 North American Championship Proposals

Dear American Section Members:

Despite the season just beginning, I like to send a request for proposals to host the 2028 5o5 North American Championship. This will be voted on at the 2026 NAs at West River October 14-18 at the AGM. Per our bylaws, we are to select an NAs site two years in advance. Admittedly, this has not always been the case in recent years but we'd like to return to this format in order to let people better plan. The 2027 NAs will be part of the Pre Worlds in Long Beach, CA at Alamitos Bay YC September 2027. Please submit proposals to me tmurp...@gmail.com. I am happy to present the proposals at NAs if you cannot attend but the preference would be for someone from the proposed club to be at NAs to present it. Happy to answer questions regarding this process. As always, thanks for your support of the Class and organizing the regattas that make the 5o5 Class what it is.

Is there any criteria that should be considered such as if it was on the west coast one year than should have a push for the east coast the next year or anything similar?

Good to see you. So yhere has been some pattern in the past but it’s gotten out of wack recently. We’re looking for who can host the best event that the greatest number will go to. As voted by everyone.
