Greetings!

I'm trying to find a CAD version of the 505 measurement diagrams showing the stations and shapes as seen on the official  "Class Rules -B- measurement diagrams" It's a 3 page PDF
which I located on the International website.

I tried to reverse engineer off the PDF but it doesn't seem to be all that accurate, for instance on the page 2 layout, the front view, station 7 measurement to center line does not coincide with the (lower) side view station 7 dimension to center line.  I believe station 7 is also the maximum beam dimension.

Also the side view on page one does not scale the same as the page 2 side view.

If someone has some info on why this is a where I can find an accurate drawing I would appreciate it.

Happy New Year to all and here's to  great sailing in 2010!!

Bill,

I did a NURBS surface model of the hull in Autodesk Mechanical Desktop awhile back (from the data on the website).  I can send that to you, possibly in IGES, depending on what you are using, it may be of use.

Happy New Year!

Just in case you have not looked at the USA web page lately.....  Here is the same info. Don't wait to organize your accommodation. Into camping?? Contact Dan about camping very close to your boat!

Happy New Year,

Paul Von Grey

It is the Pacific Northwest's turn to host the PCC's in 2010. We have chosen to hold the event in the sailing town of Port Townsend, Washington.

If you are not familiar with "PT" (Port Townsend) check out some of the links. Absolutely incredible scenery from the beach just tops off the great sailing!

Here is a preliminary "Notice of Race" for the 2010 PCC's:

The Port Townsend Sailing Association is proud to announce that it will host the 2010 505 Pacific Coast Championship regatta in Port Townsend, Washington. The event will be held at Fort Worden State Park on Saturday, May 22 through Monday, May 24, 2010. (It is a Canadian holiday on Monday.)

Port Townsend is an historic seaport with a Victorian flavor, a vibrant waterfront, numerous restaurants and attractions for the whole family. It also offers good sailing and consistant breeze in May.(8-15 knots is typical) There are many inns, hotels, B&B's and camping options, but it is important to reserve early, as Port Townsend is a popular destination. For some of you, travel to Port Townsend will involve using the Washington State Ferry system, and here again, advanced reservations are a good idea.

Expect to see a dedicated website and links in the very near future. We look forward to throwing a great regatta and seeing you all here in PT!

If you can't wait to get more info you can reach Dan Ginther at 360 385-5188 or da...@mrjconstructors.com or Piper Dunlap at 360 774-0819, or piper...@gmail.com.

Check out these links to get a feel for the town.

As I recall, there is some CAD templates available, I believe they were in some format that worked in AutoCAD, which is what I used to generate the surface model.

The station locations appeared to be in English units converted to metric.  - John

That sounds like it might be fairly accurate , when you have a chance I'd like to take a look at the IGES file you have.

Many thanks,

Bill,

Were you able to find/create a CAD model of a 505?

I am interested in this as well as I am designing a multiple-boat trailer.

Thanks.
