Hello Sportsfans,
It's hard to believe that another year of 505 sailing has come and gone. It was another great year of sailing for the 505 Class in the US, and I'm excited to see many of you in Adelaide for the 2025 Worlds next week!
In follow up to our officers call on Monday, I wanted to circulate a few housekeeping items for everyone.
1. Dues
2025 dues bills will be emailed in the coming days for those that are not set up in a recurring membership through Clubspot. If you would like to adjust your membership type, update your information, or create a recurring membership, visit
https://usa505.org/membership/
The class is fortunate to have many benefactor members who support the class above the level of regular membership. After a broad survey of Benefactor members, we have elected to increase that level to $150/year. There is no need to change anything if you are on a recurring membership plan.
In addition to dues, it is now possible to make an optional, additional contribution to the class via the membership process. These additional funds are allocated towards class media and promotion activities that are a priority of the class officers.
2. Regional Media Coordinators
The class is looking to add 2-3 additional regional media coordinators. You fit the bill if you are a frequent competitor in your region, know how to use social media and are interested in helping us create regional content to expand the coverage we provide to all of the sailors in the US. These coordinators will collaborate with professional media and the webmaster to execute our broader media strategy and keep a steady drumbeat of activity on our channels.
Please email me if you are interested.
3. Regional Mailing Lists
To facilitate coordination and communication for all members (and non-members), please
make sure that you are on your REGIONAL (West Coast, East Coast) and NORTH AMERICAN email list. Some local areas also have active local lists. You can sign up for those here:
https://usa505.org/fleets/
4. Boat Database Project
Tim Murphy and Mike Holt have been spearheading a project to identify and track down the competitive boats that are being under-utilized here in North America. If you know someone who isn't using their boat and may consider selling (or perhaps you are a collector yourself!), please respond to this email and include location, hull information, equipment and contact information. In general, we are looking for Waterats and other boats 8600 and later that are already or will be competitive with modern rigging.
Thank you again for your efforts to support our class this year! Happy Holidays to everyone and I will look forward to seeing you on the water in 2025.
