Everyone -

It's 22 days from when we'll all be arriving at West River to sail the 2021 ECCs. We're finally getting to some degree of normalcy in the world, plenty of you will have been vaccinated (my 2nd dose comes Saturday) and we'll finally be able to enjoy some quality 505 racing without a bunch of painful "what ifs" around it. So register!

Two weeks later comes the Wickford Regatta. June is Rhode Island's windiest month, and Skip and his team put on a smashing event. Registration page is here

Both of these should be 25 boat events at minimum.

If you need a crew/driver/boat transport/whatever, let me know. Sailing is back, no lame excuses.

Right on. Welcome to the not nearly as windy as the gorge but still often windy coast.

Everyone, meet Rob.

Hey Region 1,
There is still time to register for and attend ECCs in West River next weekend.  We'll have minimum of 4 boats from New England... let's go sailing in the warmer water of the Chesapeake!   No excuse if you don't have a crew, Rob's post below looks to be an ideal match.  There are a number of people interested in getting involved in the class, but we're still figuring out how to provide a secure way to put people in contact with one another.
Best,
Duane

We have another crew, Matt Hersey, who is light on 505 experience but is at a perfect entry point - strong sailing skills, trap experience, and good size. He's anxious to get out.

Hey everyone,

Not sure if I have introduced myself so I’ll start with that. My name is Andrew Schoene, I own a Waterat and have recently moved to Portland, ME. I will likely be keeping my boat at Sail Newport so I look forward to getting with everyone for some practice and regattas. I graduated from Eckerd College in 2018 and started sailing 505s shortly after. Crew situation has been quite fluid as I purchased the boat on my own. I primarily skipper. I’m 5’8” and weigh about 150 so I feel I’m almost useless on the wire! Although I’m happy to crew from time to time!

I cannot attend ECCs. Interestingly enough I will be in the Annapolis area that weekend as my boat is at my parents house. My dad and I will be doing some repairs that have been neglected to be completed. Him and I will be sailing NAs together in September/October. With that being said I will be MIA for much of this season as I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get the boat up north. When I do, I hope to be able to get to a few practices before NAs.

Unless something changes, I have my dad who will crew at NAs, but for other practices and maybe some regattas that are local, I’d love to pair up with a crew to get out. Anyways, hopefully this message isn’t out of place, I just want to make it known that I intend to be there representing the Region 1 fleet in the future but tied up until I get some repairs done.

Cheers!
Andrew

Andrew -

Welcome to the fleet. There are a bunch of potential crews in the area itching to get out. Get the boat patched up and get it to NPT. If you need to borrow a trailer or whatever, let me know.

Andrew,

I will be living in Rye, NH from the end of July. I will be looking to start 505 sailing out of Rye Harbor later this season. This is not a far drive from Portland so lets plan to connect sometime in August.

What number Waterat do you own?
___
