Rest assured, your American Section Officers have been working to build an enticing 2026 regatta schedule as well as keeping an eye on the long term viability of our Class. Before I dive into our initiatives, I’d like to take a moment to share my thanks to many people. I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to my fellow officers who have shared so much of their time to make this all work. I appreciate your expertise in all matters pertaining to running an organization like this. In particular I want to thank Adam Wolnikowski for his years of contribution as our Information Officer. He has recently stepped aside and Andrea Ciccardi will be taking the helm in this position. We rely on people generously donating their time, so if you’d like to help please reach out to any of the Officers to find out how.For 2026, we have 18 regattas including NAs between East and West Coast. This does not even include Australian Nationals, Worlds or Euro Cup. I personally made it to 9 regattas in 2025 and saw many of the stalwarts but was encouraged to see new teams as well. The schedules have been released so take a look and find events you can make. Never too early to plan. If you have not been on the water in some time, make 2026 the year. In the end of 2025 Mike Holt and I did a boat location endeavor and found a number of boats not sailed in recent years. If you don’t foresee sailing, please consider selling as we have many requests from buyers looking. We are happy to talk and help with the process.Anyone who either sailed or followed the Class in 2025 noticed we hired the media services of Lexi Pline. This was an initiative aimed at expanding the Class’ exposure and raising its profile. The goal is to give everyone a chance to see themselves in action but also to promote us to younger sailors as a recruitment tool. In addition to all the “cover shot” pics Lexi took, there were interviews with a wide range of 505 sailors. All of this is posted on social media on Instagram, Youtube, and Facebook.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/505_class/?hl=enFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=international%20505%20class%20-%20american%20sectionWe really liked the media product, however it comes at a price, one which membership dues alone cannot support. If you liked the work and want to see it continue, we need your help.As you renew your US 505 Class Membership for 2026, I hope you’ll consider making an additional contribution to support the class’s media efforts. You should get an auto-renewal or prompt to pay dues 12/31. This investment is already paying dividends, helping spark interest in the 505 among the next generation of sailors while showcasing what makes our class special: great racing, iconic boats, strong fleets, and the camaraderie that keeps us coming back year after year. The goal is simple: increase visibility, attract new sailors, and celebrate the community that we all enjoy.Whether it’s $50, $100, or $500, your support helps amplify the story of the 505, strengthen participation, and open the door for a new generation to discover and fall in love with these incredible boats. Here is a link to reach out to us if you would discuss further support of the class:In the new year you'll see some refreshments on the American Section Website (https://usa505.org) that should provide links to the media sources aforementioned. Andrea is working on this, so please be patient while he learns to work with our site. As well some slight updates should make the site more relevant. Another new feature will be a link to donate or to request to speak to an Officer about our fundraising.NAs hosted by West River SC (October 10-18) will be our marquee event. Particularly if you are local please consider assisting the organizing committee to help this reach its potential. Macy has done a tremendous amount of work thus far but will need help and volunteers. Beyond NAs, Alamitos Bay YC will be hosting 2027 505 Worlds September 23 to October 2. These dates are set so please make your plans as it will be here before you know it.Last item. After NAs this year, we realized our Constitution and bylaws need to be reviewed and possibly amended to fit into the 21st Century. Particularly around the voting procedure. However, this will be a discussion for another time but a problem we are aware of.Finally, I want to express my gratitude to you all for giving me the opportunity to serve and help lead our American Section over the last 1.5 years. I look forward to seeing everyone back on the water some time, some place in 2026.Sincerely,Tim MurphyPresident International 505 Class, American Section--
