All,

The used 505 market has been very active lately (compared to recent years). We have sold almost 20 used 505 through OUR WEBSITE CLASSIFIEDS PAGE this year. The inventory is getting a little thin, especially at the top of the price range. People seem interested in newer and turn-key boats, and the market is a bit flooded with older Waterat's and Lindsay's which quite honestly need a lot of work. This is understandable. If you or someone you know has a boat that is not active, please lets get it posted on the website and into the hands of someone looking to enter the class.

There are two second-hand Jess Rondars available in Germany; 9055 and 9084 both are about 20,000 Euro (~22,400 USD) including 1 set of sails and dolly and presumably covers. Contact Holger Jess for more info: in...@segelsportjess.de

I would like to gather some info for an update to the webpage with the various options for new 505's. If you all can help me fill in the blanks in terms of pricing, contact info, etc. that would be great. Here is what I know (in no particular order):

Rondar Raceboats (UK)
Contact: Tyler Moore tylerwm...@gmail.com

Tyler has been sailing prototype boat for new molds/interior design. Two more boats are on order to the USA with the same "standard" rigging. Target price for rigged boat with foils and spars is $20,000 USD (Tyler/Paul can you please confirm?) I am not sure what the final fix looks like to remove the aft buoyancy tank. I have heard that they will still build you a boat with the old interior layout, but perhaps that is incorrect.

Ovington (UK)

Ovington is building from new molds developed in collaboration with Holger Jess. They will sell you just a bare hull if you would like to fit out yourself. Price is approximately 8,300 quid (~$12,500 USD) for bare boat.

Segelsport Jess (GER)

Holger Jess offers a 100% turn-key 505 based on a design that has been refined over the past decade. Everything works, right out of the box. Price is 25,500 Euro (~28,500 USD) including EVERYTHING (sails, dolly, covers etc.). Holger will not do any real custom rigging outside of their standard offering.

Pinnell and Bax (UK)
Contact: i...@pinbax.com

My understanding is that P&B will gladly fit out a new Ovington or Rondar Hull to either their standard layout or something semi-custom. Ian can you provide me with some more information on typical costs for a 505 rigged through your shop?

Parker (UK)
David Parker: mau...@me.com

Parker built a few boats based on their new platform back in 2013. I am just getting started on fitting out Justin Shaffer's Parker 9108. Not sure if this hull is still being offered or not. Their website still is active with prices ranging from 8,900 quid (~$13,500 USD) for a bare hull to 19,500 quid (~$29,500 USD) for a fully rigged boat.

BlueBlue (POL)
Contact: PLEASE HELP?

Some Polish 505's have been built and are actively being raced. I tried contacting them for pricing, but not sure I am reaching out to the right person. Anyone have a lead here? Jan Saugman has been racing one of these boats with success. They have a tack forward/side launcher design and athwartship carbon jib track brackets with no forward thwart.

Not actively building boats (please correct me if I am wrong):

Duvoisin, Freemantle/XSP, Van Munster, Young Marine Systems (YMS), Waterat (very limited production)

Anyone else I am missing here? Thanks for your time.

Great to hear!

I thought Howard told me that Larry is building him a boat?  I hope so. He should be at the top of the list!

Rondar is still building both their standard layout boat (Howard just bought and rigged one in SA for Worlds this year) and the new boat (which I've been displaying). The new boat bare is going for about £6250 and around £13,300 with a US standard layout.

Standard layout bare hull sells for £7250.

Paul says he'll rig a boat any way people want.

Take your pick.

Duvoisin is certainly active with building 5O5: http://duvoisinnautique.ch/en/777-dinghies-for-2
On their website you get the price for the hull in CHF.

Van munster is active too: http://www.vanmunsterboats.com/ - Their logo is a fiveoh and they refer to the fiveoh on their website.

XSP: I could not find any reference of 505 on their site. http://www.xtremesailing.com/index.php

YMS: ? y...@bigbutton.com.au

Waterat: You sure know better than I do.

Thanks for sharing.
