Hello Tim,

We are writing to you as the contact for your class association to let you know about an opportunity and some plans.

First, US Sailing is sponsoring aWorld Sailing International Measurement Clinicat Alamitos Bay YC (Long Beach, CA) on September 26-27. Participants will learn the fundamentals of equipment inspection and measurement with hands-on practice on Olympic class boats. The training will prepare volunteers to assist the Technical Committee at the Olympic Sailing Regatta in 2028, so please share this information with anyone who may be interested in volunteering at the Games.

To apply for a place at the clinic in September, please completethis application

Second, US Sailing is developing a training pathway for certification as a US Sailing Equipment Inspector (phase one) and a US Sailing National Measurer (phase two) with the goal of supporting the needs of one-design and other classes. We plan to have the Equipment Inspector training course ready by the beginning of 2027. It will consist of approximately six hours of self-paced online education, followed by hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced measurers.

National Measurer training and certification will support the need for class measurer training and will serve as a pathway to International Measurer training and certification. This second phase will follow Equipment Inspection training, although we do not yet have a firm timeline for the course development.

Please reach out to either of us if you have questions or suggestions.

Regards -

Dina Kowalyshyn - Chair, US Sailing Measurers and Equipment Inspectors Committee (dhkho...@gmail.com
