Hi East Coast 505ers,
Two things to act on:

1)  The invitation below just came in... an offer by NYYC to let us into their premier one design event next summer.   We have of course been attending the Newport Regatta for years, but now NYYC is interested in getting some dinghy sailing going under their purview.  It would mean regattas on successive weekends, less than ideal.  We could switch horses and look into NYYC instead of Newport?  Or stick with Sail Newport?  If we accept the NYYC invite, we would need to opt into 2,3 or 4 day event.   Please rsvp to duane.d...@comcast.net or 'cc all.

2)  Ethan sent mail recently seeking attendance forecasting for the Sailing World / Helly Hansen Regatta which is a large multiclass event February 13-15.  Please RSVP one way or another to Ethan at  eeb...@gmail.com.

Please give feedback, cc' all.
Thanks,
Duane

Dear Duane,

On behalf of New York Yacht Club and Sail Newport, we are excited to present an amazing regatta  opportunity to the 505 Class for the upcoming 2026 season. As in each even year since 1998, the Newport Regatta and Race Week at Newport will both be held in July, taking advantage of some of the best sailing of the summer. Recognizing the strengths of both events, Sail Newport and the New York Yacht Club are collaborating to celebrate the entire week of sailing with more racing and social opportunities for sailors in many classes.

The Newport Regatta will be held July 12-13; Race Week at Newport will run July 16-19. We invite you to explore whether either or both of these dates are of interest to your class. If you’re looking for a location for a 2026 class championship, either regatta would be a perfect solution. We can work with you to tailor your race days over either weekend or even design a series that utilizes both regattas. At the very least, we can make sure you have all the information you need to inform your class association members as early as possible for a robust entry list.

We have a few fleets already committed and expect both regattas to reach capacity. If this is of interest, please reach out soon to ensure we can put something together that works for everyone. Inquiries can be sent to the NYYC Sailing Office, sailin...@nyyc.org | (401) 845-9633, or to Sail Newport at rega...@sailnewport.org, or by calling Brad Read at (401) 846-2983.

We look forward to a memorable season of racing and hope to see your class on the starting line.

Sincerely,

Ed  Cesare                                                       Brad Read
