Dear All:
Hope summer is going well and you’re able to sail at some of the American Section regattas and clinics. Hope to see you at west River for NAs in October.
I want to let everyone know the American Section Officers have put forward a proposal to modify the Constitution in a manner that updates it. The genesis of this was the somewhat chaotic nature of the voting process for NAs selection that occurred last year in Kingston. After review of the Constitution we thought there was room for improvement. I have included three attachments pertaining to this. One shows the newly modified Constitution in final form, the next shows the “redline” version of what was modified. The third summarizes the changes. Finally there is a ballot on which we are asking you to vote to adopt or reject the changes. Our goal was to redefine the voting process. We also introduced the option to have an online option for those unable to attend. We clarified (hopefully) the proxy process. We better defined the membership type and who can vote on issues pertaining to Constitution and measurement changes. As well improved the tie breaking process. The final aspect was to get back to the process of selecting an NAs location two years in advance. We defined how Canadian 505 Association members can vote on NAs selection.
Please review these changes and submit your ballots. Voting will close 9/4/2026. Out goal is to have this process determined by NAs on October. Please reach out to any Executive Member with questions.
