Hi All,
It's time to start firming up shipping commitments from the West Coast to 2026 North Americans in West River.  Please review all the details shipping below. If you want to be part of shipping, please send me a deposit and a note on this email thread.

October Sailing + Shipping Schedule
October is a packed month for 505 sailing. Here's how shipping will fit into that:
  • Oct 2-4 (Fri-Sun): ABYC regatta (Long Beach)
  • Load boats at ABYC ideally Sun 10/4 but possibly very early Mon 10/5 (truckers don't work Sundays for whatever reason...)
  • Unload in West River likely Friday 10/9
  • Pre-NA's: 10/10-11 (Sat-Sun)
  • NA's racing: 10/14-17 (Wed-Sat). Note racing ends Saturday.
  • Load boats in West River Sat 10/17 or as soon as possible afterward (but no later than early monday morning).
  • Boats travel back to StFYC
  • Unload boats at StFYC when they arrive, likely late Thursday 10/22 or first thing Friday 10/23
  • 505 PCC's @ StFYC, 10/23-25 (Fri-Sun) (Late start Friday)

The shipping schedule is tight but doable; trucking is much more of a known quantity than container shipping. Depending on numbers, we will either reuse the 5 boat trailer we own or use a semi. I expect the latter (i.e. >5 boats of interest).

If you would like to be part of group shipping, please respond to this email and send me a $1000 deposit per boat. After I have committed numbers, I will make more plans.

Here are the terms of the deposit:
- If no west coast group shipping happens, the deposits will be returned less any expenses (which might include e.g. tipping agents who have done initial work for us etc).  I expect expenses in this case to be near zero.
- If west coast group shipping does happen, and you choose not to participate, the deposit is nonrefundable and will help defray the costs of others.
- If west coast group shipping happens but capacity is such that some boats are excluded, those deposits will be returned.  I do not expect this to be the case/am working on accommodating all interest, but can't promise anything yet.
- This deposit does not guarantee you a way to get your boat to the event.  It gives you higher priority than anyone not giving a deposit and gives me a firm number of boats to attempt to accommodate. If you make a deposit and a shipment is delayed/lost at sea/otherwise misses the event, or if the shipping falls through due to lack of interest, I am not liable for getting your boat to the event and/or for reimbursing costs you may have incurred in anticipation of the event (flights etc).  That being said, I will obviously do everything I can to make this shipping happen/have everything work out, as I have done in the past.

Electronic payment is best: paypal or zelle (eric.t.a...@gmail.com) or venmo (@eric-t-anderson).

I'm happy to answer any further questions people have, as well.

Best,
Eric
