So I sent an email a few months back saying that I got my first coaching job. Well we started camp a few weeks ago and today was our first game. The kids have been working really hard and getting better.

So today's game was a nail biter. We led by a TD for the majority of the game. We have a stud RB and so did they. We held until about 1:30 to play when they ran a sweep and moved to about the 5 yard line. They were able to punch it in the next play.  We had 1:19 seconds to go with all three time outs left. We got the ball at our own 40 and ran two plays for about 8 yards total. We were down to 12 seconds to, so only one play left otherwise it was the dreaded tie.

They had their stud player lined up against ours so I told the QB to call the Het sweep we had been successful with but they were starting to key on. Instead though we ran it the opposite direction away from their guy.

Boom! 50 yard game winning TD run as time expired. We won 27-20. The kids were stoked and had a great time.

Just thought it was worth a share.

I coached football for one year, but as a Canadian I am required by law to coach kid’s hockey and I’m now in my 11th season. Working with the kids and seeing how much fun they have and how much they grow from being a part of a team is one of the greatest experiences a person can have.

Dealing with their parents, however, will leave you borderline suicidal and believing that there is absolutely no hope for humanity.

Either way, congrats on the win!!!

I feel ya there. Luckily we have some great parents this year. Had one trouble parent and got rid of them from our program after finding out they had already been kicked out of two other leagues as well as a little league baseball league. I Feel bad for the kid.
