Hi 4tH-ers!
I've been busy off and on with this one, but I'm happy to say that I've added my TopITSM project to 4tH.
You probably know I claim to use 4tH professionally - well, this is a prime example. It's quite specialist, but may be it is of use to anyone.
TopITSM is a tool I use when I enter an unknown organization and have to figure out their organizational and tooling situation as far as IT service management is concerned. I wrote it about a decade ago and it has served me well.
Basically, this tool holds a list of repositories - which a good ITSM organization should maintain - and the interfaces between them. I can use this tool to answer two questions pretty quickly:
- Are all repositories there - and if so, in what application;
- Who is responsible for a repository.
I can see that way if there are any gaps and how well they map. You can quickly generate Word documents, Excel spreadsheets or even diagrams of your findings - which you can use straight away in your report or add as an appendix.
I also added a chapter to the manual - which I will upload shortly. If you can't wait to start, there are a few (binary) files missing, but if you contact me, I'm sure we'll find a way.
Code in SVN.
