It has been an extraordinarily busy week following CFUnited but I wanted to take just a couple minutes to keep everyone up to date on the latest 4CFF news.  First, we have officially opened a bank account!  This sounds like it is no big deal, but it highlights the fact that we have our first corporate sponsor.  DataCurl graciously donated some funds to 4CFF.  Many more people expressed interest in donating and we will provide information on how to do so just as soon as we can.  The first question you may have is, what will happen with the funds?  First I should say that no one involved with 4CFF is looking to make money from the foundation.  All funds will be used to benefit the community.  We have a lot of ideas on how to use funds to benefit the community, and I am sure you all do to.  For now, we will use them to help build value for the membership of this organization.  We will inform the membership on how all funds were allocated in a yearly budget review.

Next, 87 people joined the member list in the last week!  That is spectacular.  I personally welcome all of you to this group.  This signals to me that people are genuinely interested in working together to build a stronger community.  Now I just hope we can effectively harness that energy.

Our hope is that in the coming weeks we will have more news for all of you.  We have many plans in the works at the moment, and in the coming weeks we expect to have more information about:
 - projects that we are looking to support as part of 4CFF
 - how we are going to decide which projects are supported by 4CFF (remember, the projects need to be owned by 4CFF to be supported, so our expectation is the project owner today would ask to be part of this and would continue to manage the project for as long as they would like)
 - what other activities we would like to support
 - and most importantly, how you can get involved with all of this

We will definitely be looking for volunteers to work on various pieces of the puzzle.  I've already talked to some individuals that have knowledge of how to help create a professional membership society, others are very interested in helping with various software projects, we need all the help we can get.  We still need to work out some of the details on how we manage these efforts.  This foundation is about working together to keep our community strong, in any way that each of us can help.

Thanks again for joining, we look forward to your participation, and we hope we can help build an organization that makes the community stronger for all of us to enjoy!

Welcome to the 4CFF Nation,
Jason
