While with the 452ARW at March we often did missions at Edwards AFB, they would brief us to leave ALL cameras and to take NO photos under penalty of prison, then at the last minute the aircrew from the B-2 would hand us their personal cameras and tell us to take photos!!
For years both the 22nd
BW and our own 336ARS from Match AFB would fly secret missions in support of the stealth fighter and the crews really did keep it secret!
I also attended an experimental flight of a jet fighter with reversed wings and vectored thrust that was never produced. I suspect it was a test bed for the features eventually used on the F-22 and F-35. I was there with our Flying Safety Officer as I was the Assistant for the Wing as an additional duty and the safety office at Edwards invited the two of us for the classified "show" we monitored the flight from mission control after getting to see and touch the plane prior to flight. It was covered with tufts of yarn and many monitoring devices that transmitted hundreds of things to the computer in mission control.
