At the risk of being shouted down by the Mac-only crew (and hey, it's a
fine platform!), can anyone recommend a Windows equivalent of
Texpander, the utility currently being featured on the 43 Folders site?

Many thanks for any input.

Feh. No one's going to shout you down in the Google Group. We're all
warm and fuzzy here :)

I'll beat our friend Buzz to the inevitable punch by suggesting
Activewords [http://www.activewords.com/]. It does several pretty neat
things, including the text explosion that Textpander does.

I use Shortkeys Lite (http://www.shortkeys.com), which is free and
does the text expanding part of Texpander/(Textpander?), but not the
autocorrect. I have it set up with a '.' as my marker, so typing '.ds'
expands to '20Sep'. You can have longer boilerplater text too, which I
use for project templates etc.

As someone else mentioned, I'd also recommend SlickRun, but AFAICS it
has a different purpose to Texpander.

I use Shorkeys. I deal with email and writing the same thing over and over
as well as processing orders, so it wi a major time saver for me.

I just checked out Shortkeys Lite. Very nice. And I love Stuart's
suggestion to use a . to preface the keywords. Smart.

Thanks for the new toy!

One of the things I do if put "f" for "full" after some of my autocorrect words. If I need to expand the name of some agency, I'll type "epaf" to spell out the agency name, but "epa" by itself will type EPA.

I use AllChars.

It is actually better than Textpander because you can manipulate the
time & date strings more easily...

So if I want insert a date when an invoice is due, I have a macro that
adds 28 days to today's date... I only have to type my trigger phrase
"/due" and it inserts this: 2005-10-24 (Monday) - which is 28 days
hence.

If I type my trigger phrase "/yd" it inserts this: 20050925 (Sunday)
for Yesterday...

Allchars is free, too.
