Do any of you know of a service that would allow us to enter in where
all of us are? I know google maps can show multiple addresses on the
same map, but that doesn't seem like it'd scale to the area this group
encompasses.

If someone does know of a serivce, does someone want to set it up so
we can find out where we all are? The UK people and their meetups are
inspiring me...

If someone does this over the next ten days, I'll show up as a
flashing dot, starting in London and then tracing a slow arc across
the Atlantic and the US to LA, then swooping across the Pacific to
Rarotonga in the Cook Islands before coming to a halt in Auckland, New
Zealand.

I'm emigrating :-)

So am I, moving from North-eastern France to Bethnal Green, London!

Don't know such a website/software, sorry.

I use something my friend Bryan Boyer wrote.

It doesn't do real-time but lets you plot and show movement. Data is
fed via XML so in theory you could whip up some procmail that changes
the XML when you email a command to it or something.

Come to think of it, that may be cool.

It is a very slick little app though.

I've been reading about this new IM service that does what you are
looking for.

http://www.meetro.com/

I have not tried it yet.

I have to say this looks completely idiotic.

I really don't understand why someone trying to break new ground in IM
for crying out loud doesn't bypass the whole outdated desktop computing
model and just go for where something like this is actually useful.

Messaging and Presence MUST be mobile applications.

It works as a mobile app... Laptop and EVDO card, ready to go.
