This one is for the penheads in the group: I recently acquired a Lamy
Pico, and after a short period of time where I toted both, it's
replaced the Space Pen as the writing half of my hPDA. The thicker
barrel of the Lamy makes for more comfortable writing (at least for
me) and the finish/materials seem to handle life in a pants pocket a
bit better. Plus the mechanism is just much cooler...

My Pico unfortunately languishes in it's box, unloved :(

Whilst it does indeed feel lovely and have one of the coolest
mechanisms around, comparing favourably with the Cross Ion, the
writing quality of the traditional ballpoint refills I found
absolutely horrid. If Lamy produced a gel refill I would probably
resurrect it. For now, it's the Cross Ion and the Pilot G2 XS for me.

Agreed. If only the pen wrote a bit better I'd start using it again. My
current refill has clogged up somewhere internally, which means I get
broken and streaked lines :(.
So instead, I just ordered a replacement Fisher pen.

I completely agree, a gel or even a rollerball refill would be a nice option.

That's an interesting idea.  Does the cap post like the FSP?  Or does the pen extrude?

The Pico is a retractable ballpoint. I had one (as a replacement for
a Fisher, just like John), but I think it's living somewhere in or
under my couch now. I had the chrome finish, which slid right out of
my pocket just as easily as the Fisher.

I'm carrying a Cross Ion these days, but I don't like the feel of the
Ion in my hand, or the blunt writing end of the pen. Still, this one
manages to stay in my pocket.

Nah - not for me. I'll stick with the slick chrome of my FSP over any
other ballpoint on the market. Add to that the FSP's abilities (we're
all too aware, I'm sure) and I've stopped looking.
