does anyone have any suggestions as to a powerful computer that would
be used only for video productions?

First, you're very brave. This is a lot like asking "I'm looking for a religion, any recommendations?".

Regardless, my recommendation is for an Apple. Probably an iMac. It likely would have been an Apple anyway, but even moreso since you mentioned video production.

You want a Mac Pro if money isn't an object. Not because Macs are more
expensive, but because Mac Pros are top of the line.

I second that. If any real intensive rendering is to be performed even
multiple MacPros or Xserves could help in a render farm. But I am sure
Apple has a usage scenario worked out... or Pixar did. (did they use
Macs?)
