Hello,

I have a lot of files in both my internal hard drive and a few
external hard drives. What tools are there so that I can reorganise/
index the files easily? What I am looking for is a tool that can let
me tag individual files/folders like Google Docs and Gmail, then will
create the directory structure so that to put the files in the new
directory structure. Something like the way del.icio.us works would be
very good. Is there such a thing out there? I have tried a tool called
Tagg but it only does the first part of what I am after. Are there
other tools out there relating to this?

Best Regards,
Benson

3D Topicscape lets you organize files the way you want, either taking
charge of the files itself or leaving them where they are but showing
them in an independent structure you choose. It also lets you add a
file description if you want, and information about the author and
source.

Files and the topics you put them in can be 'cloned'. In other words,
a file or topic can appear in several places, but they will be
instances of the same thing, so that you don't end up with out-of-date
copies.

You can take an existing folder and drop it into a Topicscape and it
will build a structure that mirrors the folders. Then you can start
changing as you wish.

The view you get of the information you store that way is a 3D
landscape and it's extraordinary how much you can see at a time, that
way.

I meant to mention - no tags yet, but the next version will have them.

Why not simply using a Desktop Search tool (Spotlight on Mac, Google,
X1, Copernic... if you don't run Vista). You can search and retrieve
your files by indexing all their content, and simply manage tags (say
all tags will be coded #word so that you don't mix them with ordinary
words when using the search engine).
