I was thinking of arranging a meetup here in San Francisco sometime
before the holidays. Someplace with Wifi and beverages where we can say
hi, share tips, and whatnot.

I'm torn between preparing something officious and "useful" featuring
short presentations and lightning tutorials vs, I dunno, just drinking
beer and eating fries. Maybe there's room for a little of both. It _is_
San Francisco, after all. :)

My schedule--like yours, I'm sure--is a little frantic from here
through January, but, I thought I'd at least float the idea and let you
kids mull it over.

I'm thinking somewhere in late October or early November. Maybe a
Friday night so you can make it a night on the town if you like.

Feel free to float opinions, locations, topics, and what have you. I'll
probably make a decision one way or an other in the next week or two.
I'd love the chance to shake hands and talk shop with you.

As much as I loathe to go into The City again this year (two weekends
in a row just about maxed me out for the next few months), I think it
would be great to drop in and meet the others. I'm new to this whole
GTD thing, so getting hints and advice from people that are actually
using it sounds like A Good Thing.

Friday night or Saturday works the best for me, but I can probably
manage it on other days, too.

Wow, 143 members already. Good job Merlin! :)

Late in October is OSXcon, which many people on the list will
(hopefully) be at. It's October 25-28. If people are sticking around,
maybe Friday the 29th would work, you might pull in some out-of-towners
staying after the conference.

That sounds like a good date to bat around, Todd. Let me think about
it.

If I agree to grow a long beard and wear a too-small tshirt with a
unix joke on it, will you comp me to OSXCon? ;-)

Sadly, I have no direct involvement with the conference. Maybe you
should mail Tim O'Reilly and try to get in as a speaker. You can talk
about GTD on OSX and the 43folders site. :)

Maybe I'll just show up, stand outside, and make Monty Python jokes
until someone lets me in.

Well, I'm making my first visit to the SFO area for BloggerCon (Nov 6)
so I'd selfishly like to see a meetup around that time. :)

I think that's a great idea.

I'd held off on doing one here til I had a better idea what date I
could do. I'd love it if folks wanted to initiate meetups especially
in Jet City.

Well, my house is just around the corner from the usual OXCon
convention hotel. And we often have parties to co-incide with Santa
Clara O'Reilly fests (http://www.ambiguous.org/gallery/album01 for
instance). Let's have it at my house.

(Especially as I am on a mission to lure Merlin from the city. Woohoo.)

We could add a media swap component to this as well. Everybody brings a
CD to share with everyone else.

I'd be interested in a Seattle meetup.

Would anyone be interested in a Pittsburgh meetup?

Or, after January, a Blacksburg, VA meetup?

"Find Origami Groups Near You" was the result for a quick search for
43folders on meetup.com. Your search for GTD returned 0 results.

Heh. Yeah, regrettably, Meetup is apparently only useful when you want
to *announce* a decided-upon location and time. I'd personally find it
a lot more useful if you could first just post the idea, and take
suggestions from possible attendants.

FWIW, it's looking like it will be somewhere near Santa Clara
(valley/peninsula) at the time of OSXCon (Oct. 25-28). Danny had
gallantly nominated his home, but exact location is up in the air.
Good ping. I'll work on nailing this down. Tx.

Heh... fwiw, I'm an old college pal of Meetup's CEO... i've already
dinged him to get a "GTD" or "43folders" meetup group started (and he
replied saying it was scheduled for doin')...

...looking forward to sharing beer and GTD tips with people here in
NYC...
