42 New Briggate Summer residency programme 2008
Invitation for submissions
Deadline: Friday 20th June 2008

This summer students, graduates, practitioners and collaborative
groups are invited to make use of the 42 New Briggate gallery as a
studio in which to experiment and create innovative work from any
discipline and in any medium.

Each residency will last for a two-week period. The gallery will not
be invigilated or open to the public and so candidates are encouraged
to utilise the gallery’s large window space to keep the public
informed of their activity. The boards/scaffolding next to the gallery
can also be considered in proposals.

The residency programme will culminate in a weekend exhibition on
Friday 26th – Sunday 28th September showcasing work produced in
residence from all artists in the programme

The programme will commence on the 7th July and there are four
residency fortnights available,

7th – 20th July
21st July – 3rd August
4th August – 17th August
18th - 31st August

Submission guidelines,

Please send:
* A CV
* A covering letter describing what you intend to do and the thinking
behind it, how you would utilise the space and a description of what
would be visible in or through the window.
* Images or other relevant supporting material these can be of the
proposed work or of previous relevant works. Please ensure that CDs
are compatible with Apple Macs.
*Please specify if there are any of the residency weeks that you are
unable to do and whether you will be present for the exhibition
weekend in September.
*Artists will be responsible for making sure the space is ready for
the next resident and should consider this in their proposals.


Hard copy submissions can be dropped through the door of the gallery
or handed to a gallery assistant from 12th June 12-7pm Tuesday -
Saturday or posted to:

There are no fees available to pay artists but artists will not be
charged to use the space. We will confirm that we have received
applications by email. Meetings will be held with short listed
candidates to discuss ideas and practicalities in the week commencing
24th June.

We apologise that we will be unable to give feedback to people who
have not been shortlisted and if you have not been contacted by June
29th then please assume that your application has been unsuccessful on
this occasion.
