www.425dxn.org is provided by the 425DXN App
for Android. It is available on Google Play - free of charge, no ads. Enjoy!
DESECHEO 2026 ---> The KP5/NP3VI team will be active during the ARRL Inter-
national DX CW Contest on 21-22 February. To manage the energy requirements
of their solar-powered Remote Deployment Units, and be aligned with propaga-
tion windows to North America, their contest operations are scheduled for
00:00-03:00 UTC and 17:00-00:00 UTC.
While one station competes, they will maintain the second radio in DXpedi-
tion mode. This ensures that the global amateur radio community still has
opportunities for a contact outside the contest environment. They kindly re-
quest that stations outside of North America refrain from calling the con-
test station during the windows listed above.
IOTA HONOUR ROLL ---> The 2026 Honour Roll and Annual Listings have been
posted on the IOTA website
https://iota-world.org/: click on PERFORMANCE
LISTINGS in the dropdown menu under PROGRAMME INFORMATION. They show the
position as of 31 January 2026.
The Honour Roll lists the stations with a checked score equalling or
exceeding 50% of the total of numbered IOTA groups, excluding those with
provisional numbers, at the time of preparation. The Annual Listing lists
the stations with a checked score of 100 or more IOTA groups but less than
the qualifying threshold for entry into the Honour Roll.
IOTA rules limit inclusion in the listings to those participants who have
updated their scores at least once in the preceding five years (i.e. since
February 2021) and have opted to have their scores published.
NEW DIGITAL MODE: FT2 ---> This is a new, experimental digital mode that has
entered its on-air beta testing phase since 16 February. According to its
developer (IU8LMC), it is not intended to replace FT8 or FT4, but it is "a
specialized mode for when pure speed is what matters". FT2 achieves 3.8
second cycles, allowing to reach 240 QSOs per hour. See
https://www.ft2.it/for more information.
PACIFIC TRIP ---> Hrane YT1AD (N9YU), Steva YU3AA (NS3A) and Sergey R7KW are
planning a tourist-style DXpedition to the Philippines, Guam, and Saipan.
They will operate CW, SSB, FT8 and FT4 as follows:
4-12 March DU6/N9YU and DU6/NS3A
13-17 March KH2/N9YU and KH2/NS3A
17-23 March KH0/N9YU and KH0/NS3A
QSLs N9YU via YT1AD, QSLs NS3A via YU3AA.

+ SILENT KEY + Colin Thomas, G3PSM passed away on 17 February, aged 85. A
prominent figure in amateur radio, he held several senior leadership and
technical roles within both the Radio Society of Great Britain and the IARU
Region 1. In particular, he served as IARU-R1 HF Manager (2005-2008) and as
Executive Committee member (2008-2014); until 2017, he led the External Re-
lations Committee, representing the interests of radio amateurs to interna-
tional political and regulatory bodies. Upon his retirement, he was presen-
ted with the IARU-R1 Roy Stevens G2BVN Memorial Award. On that occasion, the
RSGB wrote: "Colin's contribution to the acquisition and defence of radio
spectrum use by radio amateurs has been unparalleled. Within Region 1 he has
played a leading role in the acquisition of additional bands. They include
136 kHz, 472 kHz, allocations at 5 MHz, and the expansion of 7 MHz. He has
also led the successful defence of our existing allocations at a time when
they are under great pressure. IARU Region 1 radio amateurs owe him a huge
debt".
