DISCONTINUATION OF THE IRC ---> Since its introduction in 1907, the Interna-
tional Reply Coupon (IRC) has been a universal tool for sending internation-
al mail,  used by people  around the globe - including  amateur radio opera-
tors, to cover the return postage of their coveted QSL cards.
However,  during the 28th  Universal Postal Congress  in Dubai  (September
2025), member countries of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) voted to discon-
tinue the IRC, effective 31 December 2026.  The UPU describes  this decision
as "a natural progression within the broader transformation of international
postal services,  in alignment with the digital practices and modern outlook
of their customers".
Current 'Abidjan' IRCs already in circulation  bearing the expiry date  31
December 2025 will now be valid for an additional year.  It should be noted,
however,  that many countries  have stopped  selling or accepting  IRCs  for
several years now.

RAEM CONTEST ---> This year's  RAEM Contest  (https://raem.srr.ru/)  will be
held on  28 December, from 00.00 UTC  until 11.59 UTC, on 80, 40, 20, 15 and
10 metres CW. Organized by the Russian Amateur Radio Union (SRR), the annual
event memorializes  Ernst T. Krenkel (1903-1971), the legendary  Arctic  ex-
plorer and radioman  (callsign RAEM)  on various polar stations  and on  the
first drifting ice station North Pole-1.

TZ4AM ---> "QRV on all bands  40m to 6m  so far  at high power",  says Jeff.
"Solar system is behaving nicely and power cuts occur less often,  so I will
be operating at higher power when called for. Mostly CW and some SSB". Oper-
rations are expected to continue until February 2026.  However, Mali is cur-
rently experiencing a severe, multifaceted crisis. If the situation deterio-
rates further, Jeff will evacuate.

YOTA CONTEST 2025 ---> The third session of this year's YOTA Contest,  orga-
nized by the IARU R1 Youth Working Group  in cooperation with the  Hungarian
Amateur Radio Society  (MRASZ),  will take place on 29 December (10:00-22:00
UTC) on the five classic bands  CW and SSB.  Everyone can work everyone. The
complete rules can be found on https://yotacontest.mrasz.org.
