birth of Petofi Sandor, one of the greatest Hungarian poets. QSL

I - Special callsigns II0IDR, II0IGU, II3ICZ, II5IDK, II7ICE, II7ICT,
II9ICF, II9IGA, II9IGJ and II0IDP (from Sardinia) - all represent-
ing former coast radio stations of the Italian Navy - will be acti-
vated on 11-20 March for the 16th Italian Navy Coastal Radio Sta-
tions Award (https://www.assoradiomarinai.it/armilog/coastal.html).
PJ4 - John, KK9A will be active as PJ4/KK9A from Bonaire (SA-006) on 23-
30 March. He will operate CW and SSB on 80-10 metres, and will par-
ticipate in the CQ WW WPX SSB Contest as PJ4R. QSLs via WD9DZV.

S2 - The S21DX operation from IOTA group AS-140 [425DXN 1603] has been
brought forward, and is now expected to take place sometime in De-
cember. Plans are for S21AM, S21RC, S21D and hopefully others to be
QRV with three stations, two on FT8 and one on SSB (with a linear
amplifier, "if we can manage a bigger generator"). QSL via EB7DX,

Z8 - Diya, YI1DZ expects to be back to Juba, South Sudan on 11 March,

They expect to leave on 12 March, and there will be still some 800 kilome-
tres to go before they get to Rykachev Island (AS-104). They anticipate

RSGB COMMONWEALTH CONTEST ---> The 85th edition of the Commonwealth (BERU)
Contest (https://berucontest.wordpress.com) will be held on 12-13 March,
from 10.00 UTC to 09.59 UTC, on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10m CW. Only operators
located within the United Kingdom and Crown Dependencies, Commonwealth or
British Mandated Territories are eligible to enter.
SOME RESPONSES TO RECENT WORLD EVENTS
* QRZ has reinstated the Russian and Belarusian callsigns that were tem-
porarily removed [425DXN 1609]. "The 24-hour restriction on our database
has ended", AA7BQ announced on 4 March. "It was done in protest to raise
awareness of the situation in Ukraine and it wasn't without controversy",
he says. "I'm sorry for causing such an uproar and you can be certain that
it won't happen again, to any country or region for as long as QRZ lives".
* On 4 March the Radio Society of Great Britain announced its decision to
"follow the actions of the mainstream sporting bodies with regard to all
activities of a competitive nature such as contests and ARDF. Russian and
Belarusian radio amateurs are therefore currently ineligible to partici-
pate in any event that is organised/sponsored by the RSGB". For RSGB Con-
tests, "until further notice, all logs received from stations in the
Russian Federation or Belarus will be treated as check logs".
+ SILENT KEY + Reportedly, Ivan Lysenko, UR8GX was killed in action while
defending his home city of Kherson, Ukraine a few days ago. Ivan was an
active DXer and a well known contester; he also operated with the UR1G team
from the Kalanchakskiye Islands (EU-179) during the IOTA Contest over the
past few years.
