3Y0K NEWS ---> The 3Y0K team has added a skilled medical and support team
for the 2026 Bouvet DXpedition. Six experienced professionals (one of them
is HB9FKF) in medicine, security, evacuation, and emergency situations will
assist with camp setup, maintenance, safety, and weather monitoring.
"The team is ramping up preparations to depart from Cape Town in February",
LA7GIA reports. "In two weeks, we plan to make the next payments, totalling
650,000 USD. By then, we will have invested approximately 1,650,000 USD in
the expedition. We are still seeking donations to complete our budget. If
you want this expedition to be a success, please consider supporting us. Our
goal is to raise 60,000 USDs before departure". Donations can be made using
either PayPal or a credit card, see
https://3y0k.com/.
MIDWAY ATOLL ---> "The Intrepid DX Group has been working hard over the
years to gain permission to activate Kure Atoll, Johnston Island, and most
recently Midway Island", Paul, N6PSE posted to Facebook on 19 November
(
https://www.facebook.com/100064781196182).
The Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and the Battle of Midway National
Memorial are currently closed to visitors due to limited staffing and infra-
structure. The atoll is a sanctuary for endangered birds and marine life.
Before considering an amateur radio operation, a formal compatibility deter-
mination is required to ensure that it will not interfere with the refuge's
mission. However, the current staff and operational capacity are fully com-
mitted to essential priorities, such as human health and safety, historical
preservation, and wildlife and habitat conservation. "We will keep trying",
says Paul, although no changes to this situation are expected in the near
future.
The most recent large-scale DXpedition to Midway Atoll was K4M in October
2009.
S21SDX ---> The operation from the Sundarbans [425DXN 1797] has been post-
poned "due to unexpected circumstances", the team says. "The current condi-
tions no longer allow us to safely and effectively carry out the DXpedition
as intended. We are currently evaluating new dates and will announce the
rescheduled timeline as soon as possible".
YASME FOUNDATION GRANT ---> The Yasme Foundation has announced a grant to
the Amateur Radio Association of Bangladesh (
https://www.arabhq.org/) in
support of their ongoing roadshow at universities around the country, intro-
ducing youth to amateur radio.
The Yasme Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation organized to support
scientific and educational projects related to amateur radio, including
DXing and the introduction and promotion of amateur radio in developing
countries. [TNX K4ZW]
