All,

I have been informed that some SQNs are doing LAN (Local Area Network)
Gaming. We can not do this as an offical activity but we can organise
it as a group of friends who do cadets that are in the same place at
the same time. There will be a cost for it and we will have to
organise a date that the majority of people are happy with.

If there are any people who are interested in this idea respond to
this post or send me an e-mail.

Sounds awesome Bell.

Any places in mind? As a suggestion, I can recommend the place In
Caulfield (I have a severe mental blank at current. (Severe!!). Im
sure someone out there knows about it, probably yourself. Cheap/
Affordable. Public Transport is close. But there may be other places..

Lunch/Dinner (KFC/Chinese/Snacks/Coles/Pizza) is within close
proximity too.

Can't wait for some head shots in COD or CS :D

Sounds pretty sweet Doug,

I know of a place which is in the City, it's called Adrenaland (or
something like that) and it only costs $2-3 to play per hour, but you
have to sign up for a $15 membership (maybe not us as we come in a
large group) so that's a downside.

We could also get everybody to bring their computer to someone's place
and play from there, I can organize a hub from school and probably
some Ethernet cables as well. We'd have to see what games we all have,
and then I'll have the installation files stored on a server which we
can all access... Hopefully we get some interest.

Good multiplayer games that I own which don't require much computer
power are:

Call of Duty + United Offensive (FPS)
Return to Castle Wolfenstein (FPS)
Delta Force: Land Warrior + Black Hawk Down (BHD = pirated) (FPS)
Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge (RTS)

and probably some more which I can't think of right now :P

Anyway, I don't mind what we do, it's up to the NCO's/Staff.

On the contrary, if you want to organise an activity as a group of
cadets (as opposed to a cadet activity) you can go about it yourself!
NCOs/Staff get involved only if they're coming, and in unofficial
activities its often easier to have no staff at all - the only MAIN
thing that everyone needs to be aware of, and their parents for that
matter, is that it ISNT a cadet activity and so you AREN'T covered for
liability/damages/medical etc.

Its making sure THAT is known thats the hardest part!

Yeah the place in caufield is meant to be really good i know a couple
of people who have been there, with the lan at some ones house dont
worry game keys are never a problem to get and CDs are not required
these days; its just games like BF2 that are online which require
everyone to have a copy.

I finally figured out the place in Caulfield.

It's called 'Renegade.' $2/3 dollars an hour. Pretty sure you don't
need a membership, depending on group size, you might wan't to book,
or request the computers for use (So we can be in the same place as
well)

A very good selection of games + net etc. Keys/CD's aren't a problem.

Hah, wouldn't mind having a multiplayer version of Combat Simulator
(or standard Flight Sim for that matter) - doubt too many people
actually have it...

All,

Its good to see that some people are interested this will not be
happening soon, for I will be away but when I get back I will get some
names and time that would be good. Try to talk the other people at
417 to join this Google group because it will proberly be the main
form of communicating this idea during the following weeks if i can
get access to the internet.
