Ever experienced that you can't tell friends the squadron website
because it is too hard to remember? or that you can't be bothered
finding it through the "find a unit" feature? Well now I have found a
solution. The squadron website is now accessible via this URL: 417-
sqn.webhop.org
I figured we might as well add a so called 'webhop' service, provided
by dyndns.com, because it makes the website easier to access.
Secondly, I would like people to bring forward ideas as to what needs
to be added to the website, so please send an e-mail to webmaster.
417...@aafc.org.au or leave a message here.
I myself thought about making a page for recruiting, a page of who and
what we are. I have also thought about having a boot polishing guide
up there, which Sergeant Murden should be able to help construct, and
photo's of recent activities, an archive of photo's, posting the
articles from this anonymous editor we've seen a discussion about.
Surely there is much more that CAN be added to the website. The
question is: WILL it be added? The site (from what I can see) hasn't
been updated since 2004, but I will make sure updates will happen at
least once per month intervals, given that there is content to be put
on the site. This is the reason I need your help. I need content to
put on the site. Once it's gone through its major update, I won't need
much, just monthly articles of what's been happening maybe.
Currently I cannot change anything on the website, but that will
hopefully be resolved soon. You can however, contact me via webmaster.

Apparently we also have a link from "aafc.org" From the Unit search.
Here: http://www.aafc.org.au/417sqn - But it's empty. I have the
thought, that this would be our main website, as the older AAFC site
had been disbanded (which is the one that hasn't been fixed since
'04.)
Some ideas:
- A report by some senior cadets on the new recruits wouldn't go too
bad :P, let alone something from the recruits.
- Perhaps an 'interview' with a senior NCO?
- Recruit page is a good idea
- Avalon Airshow trip, is definitely something worth putting up.
There are a few other SQN's with some sites, it's worth taking a look
at what they have got also. I currently have forgotten where they were
on the vast Internet.

Also, being a little bit of a Multimedia/Techspert I wouldn't mind
doing a few web-related things for the SQN. (Just an example, My sig
for the AAFC Bulletin Board (http://www.brightonsc.vic.edu.au/home/

And I think the reports wouldn't be such a good idea, because then we
can all see who Sergeant Murden / CUO Bridgman like the best, and we
wouldn't want to put down other cadets.
An interview with just an NCO would do good, like how long have you
been here, that type of questions.
Thanks for the advice though, I greatly appreciate it.
Ohh and maybe you can work on an image saying, NOW RECRUITING and OUR

I think the interview with an NCO would go pretty good.
Hope we can get more input, it'll be great in the future.
I'll start on the image sooner or later, (let's hope I remember to
finish all this homework before Term 2 kicks in), I might need
something specific to work with, no worries about it.
For now, try this http://www.brightonsc.vic.edu.au/home/tag0003/icon_v2.jpg
- it's just a new icon for the 417 SQN page, I just think the one in
the header was taken from another one of our sites, so I made one just
for the Google group one. You don't 'have' to use it, if you don't
want to - cinch to do.

I'm not a webmaster/moderator/admin of the google group so I can't
change it, get Sergeant Murden to do that?
But nevertheless an awesome image :)

Sorry Kevin, I automatically assume with the title 'Webmaster' to mean
this site. I know now, my bad. :P
Glad you like it, it blends in seamlessly into the background. (hah)
In a matter of completely unrelated new: I really have become off
track with my real homework for the holidays (-sigh-) (must get away
from computers!)

The official 417 SQN website is now updated, more updates will follow
shortly as I only did this since I got back from the caving trip
which, by the way, was awesome.
If somebody would like to write an article about the caving trip (I'll
send an e-mail to all the members from 417 that went caving), that
would be good as that can be added to the site.
