Well, here are a few activities that I would like to see more of -
flying activities, first aid course, inter squadron activities,
sporting events, gliding courses, army reserve nights, .22 shoots,
Dining In nights, caving, training weekends, IACE info night and drill
comp practice days.
An extended biv over the holidays or something, just a bit longer than
the usual overnight ones, would be fun too. And it would be really
cool if it were a scenario biv or one where we got to move away from
base camp. I also heard cadets from other sqns talking about themed
bivs, as in bivs based around a specific aspect such as canoeing and
such, which sounded interesting. And finally, we could get involved I
a tri service biv.
I understand many of these activities will prove difficult and are
probably unrealistic but they appeared interesting. Any thoughts?

Flying Activities - unfortunately we dont have the resources to run
these, but HQ runs quite a few each year - they're all on Hector I
believe.
First Aid Courses - other than doing them privately, the only way we
can do them through cadets is to use OUR accredited first aid teachers
(we only have a few) - and because of the rareity of that they are
usually done at Wing (State) level. Theres one on Hector at the moment
- nomination preferences usually go to senior cadets, but if you
manage to get on one..
InterSQN Activities - good point, ill see what we can have happen on
that front.
Sporting Events - in negotions with Frankston and Tyabb SQNs for
interSQN sporting competitions.
Gliding - another good one that we used to do, shall see if I can
resurrect the idea.
ARMY reserve nights - I think i covered this somewhere else, but
basically thats a our CO liases with their CO thing - ill talk to the
SQNLDR.
.22 Shoots - IN THE PIPELINE! Will happen.
Dining In Nights - usually two per year, may have some interSQN or
possibly ones where parents come in additionl; they're two ideas that
have been mentioned.
Caving - See Hector, joint activity with 401 to Buchan Caves mid
April.
Training Weekends - got an NCO weekend this time around, and early
next term have a recruit/training weekend and a training day.
IACE Info Night - ill get in touch with our IACE Co-Ordinator (Danny
Salmon) and see what we can do on that front.
Drill Comp Practice - ah, knew it would come up. At present planned to
be worked in with the training days and then specific drill days once
the drill team has been finalised (mid-late April).
Cant say you havent given me nothing to do!
Scenario Bivs are possibly the best Bivs to go on ever, the main
reason they dont happen is it requires A LOT of effort in the planning
stages to cater the scenario to the training requirements, OR run a
training biv then a scenario one - which is more paperwork and more
effort. This year will see a decline in that trend as we are making
sure that only those actively interested in organising things will get
a chance, so keep your ears peeled for details or nominations for the
Biv/Activity Planning Group.
Tri-service Biv sounds like a good idea - thats the kind of thing we
throw towards the Cadet Reference Group and see what they can do. So,
basically we just call the CUO..

If we can get a head count on how many people would like to go there,
we could maybe organize a bus or something?
Bookings also have to be made there, and usually it's already full 1
week before the game starts.
There are pretty much two game types. That we could do for the price
listed above.
1. Twilight Death Match Duel, 2 Hours - Fri, Sat & Sun 1830
2. Death Match Duel, 2 Hours - Sat & Sun 930 or 1300
For more info go to www.laserstrike.com.au
Also, I'm up for a .22 shoot =D

I made some enquiries with the LaserStrike people, we can get the
price reduced to something in the vicinity of $20pp for 2 hours (Death
Match Duel) or $30pp for 4 hours (Warrior Warfare) provided pretty
much the whole SQN goes. The reason for this is that as the whole SQN
already has cams and there are quite a lot of people we can get a
discount.
Busing would definately be preferable, I for one dont want to have to
drive out to Mooralbark, then have to get a lift back 4 hours later.
Ill get in touch with the TRGO and start organising it.
Ill keep you posted,
