New issue 259 by philip.r...@gmail.com: Canon 400D Menu button not working.
http://code.google.com/p/400plus/issues/detail?id=259

Please, describe the enhancement of feature requested below:

I tried looking at the posts in the Issues Sections, I was wondering if you
have firmware that could fix the Menu button not working with the
testfir.fir firmware. If not, I would gladly loose the Trash button in
exchange for the Menu settings to appear once more.

Its my fault, I used a windows PC with EOS software to connect the camera
with custom firmware, which I should've removed the card and used a card
reader. Dumb ol' me.

Thanks

Philip

Just for clarification: there is no such thing as _custom firmware_. The
file "testfir.fir" just changes an internal parameter in the camera, to
load the hack for the card each time the camera starts; it isn't a real
firmware, and no software gets installed in the camera during the
(fake) "installation".

There is nothing wrong with connecting the camera to the computer once
400plus has been installed; it should work as before, and no harm should be
done. So, if the button worked before you prepared the camera and the card,
it should work after the procedure. Try to start the camera without a card
(thus, without the hack being run), and try again. If it fails, the it is a
hardware issue.

In that case, I think we could add an option to map another button to
trigger the menus.

Thank you so much for clearing that out for me. Phew, now I can take-apart
my 400D and test the buttons and the capacitor relay.

All I got to do now is get an omron replacement. Well, thanks so much.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, or I just did not understand what you
are trying to say...

No, dude, I was not being sarcastic. I totally dig 400Plus. In fact, I have
helped 7 people who owns Canon 400D using 400Plus and they all had very
good outcome and I will continue using 400Plus to all my friends' Canon
400D, it is very useful especially on ISO-3000-produced-pictures since
Mac's Aperture App sees major difference in RAW layered format. It was just
me, who, made a bad call.

... Yes please close this issue. Thanks ...

Hope to hear from you about Mapping key options.
