_"Official Releases: Ready to use packages with our latest official

install only binaries, while source code packages are targeted to people

My complements to all involved in this project.

I have just taken a photography course to upgrade my skills, and found to
my disappointment that several features of my 400D / XTi were lacking the
functionality and range I would have hoped for. I was delighted to
discover that a number of the functions I wanted for the camera could, in
fact, be obtained by downloading your firmware.

Tonight I followed your instructions and had NO problems whatsoever in
getting the new functions up and running on my camera. I have found
(somewhat to my surprise) that all the steps were relatively easy to
follow, and most important that the new functions on the camera are easy to
use and work exactly as described in the user guide.

Thank you very much for your efforts... all 400D / XTi owners should know
about this... in my opinion it significantly adds to the value of the
camera.

Hello

I have two questions:
First If the preset function is to record with the SET, is how to load a
preset. I intuitively push the SET but I think nothing is happening.
Second Is it possible to add features to wake the camera's long exposure
features?
If the camera is set to save power, it falls asleep. Is it possible to send
the script, for example, half-press the shutter Secundus before the
Exposition?

At the preset menu, SET over a preset _loads_ it; to save a preset, you
must enter the sub-menu for that preset (press RIGHT) and then load, save,
or rename the preset.

There is an option in the options > scripts menu precisely to stop the
camera from shutting down while a script is running.

I installed the package, everything appears to be working. The blue light
beeps up while loading, I can see the 400plus menu and change the settings.
But I couldn't figure out how to use the package. When i set the settings
and click the normal click button, it fires a normal shot.
For example, if I want to shoot 25 consecutive shots using the
Intervelometer script, how can I do that.

Thanks.

Hi,
I really need help and I haven't found another place to post this question.
I've downloaded and installed 400plus-20120415-11.bin.zip and as far as I
can tell everything works great except for being able to change ISO via the
Left/Right buttons and seeing ISO in the viewfinder.

So I figure there must be something I'm missing. Are there any other
setting that need to be a certain way to enable this function. The manual
doesn't say anything other than:
"Set the camera to M or Tv mode.
Look through the viewfinder, and half-press the shutter button; you should
see the current measurement (shutter speed, aperture, ...).
Now press the LEFT and RIGHT buttons to change the ISO value (or UP just to
display it); the new value is displayed in the viewfinder, in the same
place where shutter speed is normally shown, while the button is pressed
down.
In P and Av modes, ISO can also be changed, but it is not displayed."

When I follow this above instructions nothing happens. What am I doing
wrong?

Thanks,
DJD

Eduardo,
Thanks for the response. I did have the feature activated and it just
wasn't working. But the good news is I finally figured out the problem. I
had Custom Function 01 "SET button/Cross keys funct." set to "4:Cross
keys:AF frame Selec." Once I changed that function back to the
default "0:SET:Picture Style" I could finally set the ISO with those
buttons and see ISO in the Viewfinder. There should probably be a note in
the manual about this requirement. It would have helped me.
Cheers,
DJD

Hello and thanks for this precious gem ... I was wondering about 2 things
that are somehow troublesome that are: one, when the !intervalometre is
used, the display has to be used and cannot be turned off pressing the Disp
button, because then the scripts simply stop running. The second one, is
that the advanced ISO / AEB / FLASH properties introduced by the 400plus
firmware, are completely ignored when running other scripts, for example, I
want to take 30" exposures in Tv mode with a 1800 kelvin light to do
astrophotography and what happens in !intervalometer mode, the photos come
out with the standard options that are ISO 1600 and 3200 kelvin. In
standard single shots, the advanced features work as expected
ISO3200/1800Kelvin. Am I doing something wrong? or is this just not
possible with this firmware?

I have followed the instructions and everything occurs as described above,
ie when you update the camera's firmware in order to prepare it for the
bootable CF cards the screen goes blank. Then after at least two minutes
(I left it for 5 just to be sure) you turn the camera off switch to off and
have to remove the battery to actually turn the camera off as it becomes
stuck in powered on. Then the camera restarts fine and I follow the
instructions with EOScard. But nothing appears to be written to the CF
card when I use that software. I copy the AUTOEXEC.BIN file to the root
directory of the CF card any way. When I put the CF card in the camera,
the camera just starts up like always and nothing is any different.

To activate the CDHK menus I am suppose to press something called the "DP
button" but I can't tell what is meant by that (could someone include a
photo of this for the EOS 400D?).

On one page it was described that if the software successfully loaded a
blue LED light would flash on your camera, but there is no description of
where that light might be found and I have never seen it flash. Could this
EOScard.exe software not work? Is there another way of making the CF cards
bootable so that the camera will try to run the AUTOEXEC.BIN file? Any
thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Just trying process for the second time now...

EOScard.exe will prepare the card, which does not mean it will copy
AUTOEXEC.BIN or any other file... you should have a formated card and then
prepare it with EOScard.exe.
After the card is prepared you should copy the AUTOEXEC.BIN to the root
directory... exactly what you already did.
The problem seems to be that the card is not bootable (i.e. not
prepared)... try formating the card and prepare it again.

The BLUE LED and the DP button are actually the same thing... this is the
*D*irect *P*rint button of your camera which has a BLUE LED in the center
(yes, the button has a led in the center). This LED is blue but you can see
this only when it's lit. Don't worry, you will definitely see the BLUE LED,
and then you will definitely know where is the DP Button ;)

I'm pretty disappointed with the "self-timer" setting. I thought I could
change the self timer to any time I wanted using 400plus but it doesn't
seem to work that way. Setting the self-timer takes a photo 5 sec (if that
is the time you set it at) after you take a shot in single-shooting mode
but if you set it to any other time over 10 sec, it doesn't work. If your
camera is set to self-timer in drive mode, it will still be the default
10seconds. Also, you can't set this "self-timer" to always be on when
you're shooting.

Thank you for the tips! I have a 400D and 5D Mark 1 - I don't see much

Any idea how hard it would be to assign new functions to camera buttons?
e.g. I would really like to have a "protect" (set file to read-only) button
(the print button would make a good candidate) on the back of the camera
like the Nikons and 1D series? It looks like this is in ML
(http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/userguide) "LV on 60D/600D: you can configure
it to protect images with a single button press" but I don't have one of
these "newer" cameras. I would like to have it in my workflow, but also to
try the 'selective transfer mode' of the eye-fi cards
(http://support.eye.fi/software/account/transfer-mode/) with a CF adapter.

May be the user guide is not perfect, some times I have to read several

won't do it until there is some hack similar to 400plus for the new one).
I have to congratulate all the team for their great work, and tell every
user to try to improve (or give some clues to improvements) to make 400plus
even greater instead of complaining.
From my side, I will try to update spanish translation of user guide, as is
not useful for custom settings (refers to A-DEP that is not working in the
