Hi everyone,
I am currently trying to install 400plus on my Canon EOS 400D (Digital Rebel XTi), which is running stock firmware version v1.1.1, but I have run into a roadblock and could use some help troubleshooting.
The issue started when I ran the .fir update file on the camera. The screen got stuck on "Loading..." and remained that way for about 15 minutes. Seeing no progress, I eventually removed the battery to reset the device. Following that, I formatted my 128GB SD card (which is housed in an SD-to-CF adapter and previously worked flawlessly) to FAT32 using CachyOS, making sure to set the bootable flags exactly as specified in the project wiki. I then copied the necessary 400plus files to the root of the card.
Unfortunately, when I insert the card and power on the camera, nothing happens. There is no blue LED indicator flash, and pressing the designated shortcut button does not open the 400plus menu; the camera simply boots into the standard Canon interface. To isolate the issue, I repeated the exact same formatting and file-copy process on a native 4GB SD card, but I experienced the exact same result: no blue light and no custom menu.
I am wondering if pulling the battery while the .fir file was stuck prevented the camera's internal bootflag from being successfully enabled. If anyone knows what might have gone wrong or how I can get the installation back on track, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.
Kind regards
