Reading everyone's posts are starting to make me doubt my items that I
have created for my ICT portfolio.
Is it okay that one of my items is on my professional development and
how that improved my units and lessons, one on my English unit with
ICT heavily integrated and my last item on the assessment pieces I
created using ICTs?

Torie.

Yes it is Torie,
as long as you have addressed all of the criteria points through these three items. I would suggest you try and cover a bit more in each item, if you just have the minimum and one aspect is not of sufficient standard you don't give me a lot of leeway in marking,

regards
Jason

Don't worry, Torie.

I think we're all feeling the same way. Going in to prac I had all
these great ideas about how to enhance learning through ICT.... the
kids are going to love it..... they're going to be sooooo engaged! And
then facing reality, within a four-week prac you just cannot do it
unless you have students who are literate in ICT. My teacher said that
all my ideas were great, however just remembering passwords and user
names are an issue, and many of my students don't have access to
internet at home, so they don't know how to use many of the things I
want to teach them about. My items unfortunately are based around
students using the IWB, googling for images, taking pictures during an
excursion, and how I have used ICT to assist me with planning and
teaching. It's a far cry from what I originally expected. I think the
main thing to remember is that when you have a class of your own for a
whole year, you can do a lot more with them, scaffolding so that they
know how to use the technology so that they can learn through the
technology...... I've have learned a lot through this course, and even
though we can't necessarily use it during this prac, they are things
that we will be able to use in the future. Keep the ideas in your own
memory bank.... Best of luck with your final prac week!

Regards
Jasmin

Thank you Jason, yeah I have a lot within each item and I have covered
all of the indicators, I was just checking.

Yes Jasmin, I know exactly what you are talking about and my portfolio
sounds very similar to yours. I have tried my harded to include all
the ICT in the classroom that I can with the time limit we have been
given, so at least I know I tried my hardest.
I have been having meetings with the ICT specialist at the school and
she was telling me to think about the future and show your intent to
incorporate ICT in your teaching. So I have also been reflecting on
how I could alter my Items if I was to have access to the Learning
Place ect.

Good luck with your final week aswell :)
The stress is almost over!
