Jason,

As I am pulling all of this together this week, it appears I've hit a brick wall with the hyperlinking stage.

I have written my 'story' under the proposed headings and am now wanting to link you to specific pages within a Word/PowerPoint doc and it seems I'm unable to do that. I can attach a document to the bottom of my Item 1 page, but then you are left with the entire document to flick through.

Could you please advise how you want to us to proceed with the hyperlinking to ensure you are directed to the exact point in a document for ease of marking. Is this possible in Google Sites? I've googled solutions to this problem, but so far the hyperlinking information available is fairly low-level stuff...not what I'm after. Needless to say I'm asking Mr Google Australia himself.

Many thanks,
Katie

Katie,
What you are wanting to do is not simple. It cannot be done to a flie i.e. where you have attached your ppt to your webpage as a file. If your ppt's are reasonably simple, you can upload them using Google presentation (in Google docs) that will convert them into a Google presentation, you can then link to a slide within a Google presentation http://www.labnol.org/internet/office/link-slides-on-slideshare-google-docs/8128/

I tend to use slideshare for the same purpose and the link shows how to link to a page within a ppt hosted on slideshare, you can then embed a slideshare presentation in your website (this is what I do but is not a trivial process) or link to the slidehsare presentation hosted by slideshare.

Jason

Is attaching it down the bottom sufficient though?

Yes Renee,
attaching files is ok, Katie was after a way of referring and linking to a particular page/slide within a file,

OK,

yes it is possible for a PDF through your hypertext link:
<a href="http://www.domain.com/filename.pdf#page=3">Link text</a>
You can also make destinations within a PDF file and link to these, if you need to do this, Google it or use the PDF editor help,

for word see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310520

for excel... you should not have that many pages/tabs in an excel document!

regards
Jason

Thanks Jason, I do not have that many pages/tabs in excel. It is just
another form of evidence to support my item.

Apologise for the miscommunication.
